Penn State beat Utah with three starting Offensive Linemen on the sidelines. All three missing from last night's game will be back next year as well as their replacements for the game last night. As long as the two freshmen running backs stay healthy, and the 5 star freshman QB lives up to his hype, the only real question mark for this offense is at wide receiver. KLS flashed a bit last night, hopefully he can break out next year.

What Olinemen, and for that matter what players at every position, that will be back for 2023 is unknown at this time. There very likely will be announcements from players in the next few days as to which players will return and some that will leave. Most sites project PSU over the 85 scholarship limit right now, without incoming portal WR's.

So it is not known if all of the OL backups such as Effner will return as of now.

Some OL players returning/not returning are known: Scruggs is not. Olu and Wallace are, as is Nourzad (sp). I have not seen anything on Wormley about not returning.

Washington and Strange are not returning, nor is Mustipher.

The unknowns appear to be Jacobs, Isaac, Ellis.

Clifford, Tinsley, Brown are out of eligibility and Porter is leaving early.

any further info would be welcome - thanks in advance.

Even if if a couple leave we are still in very good shape on O line. The five that started last night played very well. Plus three starters that didn’t play means we have at least eight quality O linemen. Losing a couple wouldn’t hurt much, especially considering we have a couple incoming fresh enrolling this month that are rated high enough to get good playing time next fall.

We also had a couple good underclassmen that didn’t play much but should be good next season. Overall, could be the best O line in years, probably since Joe’s time. And with the other posoitions and a great defense it’s hard to stay calm about the next couple years.

I believe that Wallace Fashanu and Nourzad all have announced their return for next year already. Tengwall is a red shirt freshman and Shelton is a true freshman, both returning.

You could be right about Effner.

Strange declared, but Warren and Johnson should both return.

Forgot about Wormley, he could possibly leave. I thought I read that Ellis is returning somewhere.

Yep, it looks like a great group returning, especially with the 2 incoming high 4 star olinemen, Williams and Birchmeier, enrolling in January.

I was merely pointing out that it is not known at this time if all the backups that played yesterday were returning. Effner for example. Stranger things have happened than for a player such as Wormley possibly leaving have happened in the past as well. Christ was called upon a few times this season - does he return? Likely a few announcements in the coming weeks, one way or the other.

PSU projects above the 85 right now so all we know is that there will be some attrition. And that the roster, in today's portal era, is usually not set until the Summer...........
