Sounds like another Roy Jones Jr type screwing in Olympic Boxing

This Irish boxer goes off. http://www.balls.ie/boxing/watch-mi...iew-after-being-robbed-at-the-olympics/343005

Too bad him and his cornermen didn't stage a sit down protest right in the middle of the ring. Just sit on your ass and make the cheaters remove you if they want the bouts to proceed.
The heavyweight fight was just as bad. Judges gave it to the Russian fighter, who in the
announcer's opinion didn't win a round. I felt the boxer from KAZ won easily. The analyst
joked, " the scorecards were filled out before the fight'.

Similar bullshit in the Tishchenko-Levit heavyweight final last night.

This is part of what puts me off about the Olympics and I haven't watched nor gotten into any discussion about these Olympics here. Anything judged is prone to this and it happens all the time. Skating, gymnastics, diving, etc. At least an event where you have to throw something farther than the other guy or get to the line faster or pick up more weight and it's less prone to these shenanigans although they still try it sometimes.

One of the craziest things I saw in Olympic boxing, one time they had two rings going at one time and one was on a bell and the other was on a horn. Well of course one ring came to the end of the round and one of the fighters in the other ring thought they were on the bell and not the horn and put his guard down and got flattened by the other cat. Just always some kind of inanity going on in olympic competition.

How to determine the winner in a fight (judo, etc): last one standing.

About 20 years ago I decided that I won't watch any sporting event that requires judges because it's been proven over and over and over again that the event is highly susceptible to bias.

Ned: Guessing you make exception for wet tee shirt contests. Amirite?

Wow - totally happy to see this post. I watched that fight in a bar - total happenstance that I was in a Canada sports bar and it was on - and didnt really care about the outcome but was totally surprised by the result. I am no boxing expert... but also didn't hear any announcers or anything else... but it totally seemed like the Kaz boxer was beating up the other guy.

My wife and I had this discussion last night. About 20 years ago I decided that I won't watch any sporting event that requires judges because it's been proven over and over and over again that the event is highly susceptible to bias. It doesn't matter what country is involved every one is biased, some are biased more often than others. It's brazen.

Gymnastics, diving, boxing, figure skating. etc.

Find a way to replace judges with technology or get out of the Olympics.
I had the same bias... until daughter 1 became a diver and daughter 2 became a gymnast.

Gary Russell,USA just lost a questionable decision. After a close first round, dominated the final two rounds and lost. His opponent ran the second round, even the ref ordered
him to mix it up, then wins the round. Shocking and disgusting.

It's been like this as long as I can remember in the Olympics- especially boxing (Seoul 1988 was pathetic) and gymnastics (Russian and East German judges anyone?;)).

It drives me crazy as everyone knows it's corrupt yet does nothing. Then, just to put the hypocrisy through the roof, you'll see IOC representatives (Samaranch, Rogge, and Bach) start to talk about how everything is for the athlete and how the IOC has the highest ideals (often while backhanded slapping any person/ country criticizing them).

They have no honor or integrity to fix these blatant issues. Samaranch was the worst (with Rogge and Bach not too far behind).

Dave Witvoet would have been the perfect East German judge - incompetent and crooked
