Has anyone heard more on the Scuffle? Okie State is sending a partial team. Thought I heard we may have some participation. Anything concrete? Trying to determine some holiday travel plans :)

Eh - not sure where, but, I saw or heard somewhere that PSU would have 6-7 guys in Chattanooga for the Scuffle. I’d guess non-starters. Chattanooga has lots of places to see (Ruby Falls, Rock City, good downtown bars). I’ve attended 3-4 Scuffles down there and it’s always been a good time.

At the pre-match social on Sunday, Cody said the plan was to send 7-9 to the Scuffle, if memory serves. (And my memory occasionally misses the ball completely.)

Anyone heading to Chattanooga? Cody said they are taking between 7 and 10 wrestlers down. He was shooting for 10.

Mirasola twins I believe both said they are going

Zack Ryder?

Dunbar?

Sealy?

Wang?

Shindeldecker?

Steen?

Gibson?

Garcia?

Evans?

Lee?

LUCAS COCHRAN?

I think they can take a limited number to keep under an official date, maybe some go on their own and wrestle unattached if it's allowed.

I'm pretty sure Mark Hall wrestled unattached the year he won it.

Incorrect. He was repping North Forsyth.

Does anyone have any idea who is traveling south for Penn State this weekend?

Connor and Cole have been mentioned in multiple threads, but no other names have surfaced.

Thought I read somewhere recently (perhaps on this message board?) that Sealy is "taking the year off from wrestling".
IIRC, this partly to allow a couple nagging injuries to fully recover.

This struck me as rather odd news, but then again my memory is far from perfect.

That would be troubling/odd news.

Solid contingent, kids that have invested themselves into the team get a chance to perform on a big stage and just need a 41 & 57 to field a full team.

Ryder and the Mirasolas have good shots to win it. Ryder/Stewart match would be awesome.

Was hoping to see Gibson wrestle, though. Wrestlestat has him as a RSFR with only a 1-0 career record. He’s put in his time.

I don’t think Stewart will be able to deal with Ryder.

Unlike Nagao, Sealey recently certified his weight (< 165), which means he might be practicing soon, if not already.
Would love to see Sealey compete. Maybe we start putting our blue chip recruits in Cryo until there's a spot?

Does anybody actually think it would hurt the team if they attended CKLV or went back to the Scuffle? Having a team this good and competing in so few events would be like buying a Ferrari and only driving it a couple times a year.

CKLV will never happen. Too many top B10 teams -- who wants to face Ohio State, Michigan, and Nebraska 3x before NCAAs? And frankly too many top teams, period -- we don't peak in December.

Scuffle makes a lot more sense but largely depends on the B10 Conference scheduling dorks. Can't happen this year because the Sparty dual is less than a week afterward. And that's been the problem far too often.

CKLV will not happen because it is a very tough tournament early in the season,

I think Cael has the schedule format where he wants it. No need for these tournaments where a wrestler might get 5 to 8 matches, too much injury risk. At this point, there is better competition in the room than there is at the Scuffle. In the room, the intensity can be controlled and injury risk reduced.

Welcome to load management.

Many on the PSU wrestling team credit a big part of their success to their practice partners that they train with every day. The depth in the wrestling room is simply amazing. Our group of entrants at the Southern Scuffle contains five age group world champions and medalists and four Academic All Americans. Most D1 college wrestling programs would love to have these guys on their roster. The career records listed below are from Wrestlestat and additional information is from Gopsusports.com.
Bios of PSU wrestlers at the Southern Scuffle: 125-Kurt McHenry- from Leesburg Virginia. Senior. Majoring in Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Academic All-American in 2024.
