I had been posting on the scout forum for some time, but, for some reason, I'm unable to post there on Chrome or Internet Explorer, it just churns and churns.

I was able to manipulate, George Costanza styel, a business trip to Cleveland, TN for the first week in January. This means I'll be a few days early to go to my first ever Southern Scuffle ! I have watched the tournament from beginning to end on Flo the last several years, but, I'm anxious to be there in person.

I had a few questions for those that have gone before:

1) How large of a contingent of PSU fans are usually there ?
2) I ordered a $55 reserve seat, but, there wasn't information of where they are. It just said "Reserved All-Event Pass" Any information on what these seats are like, where are they ? How strict are they on where you sit or can I move around to get close for big PSU matches ?
3) How long are the breaks in comparison to NCAA's ? Is there a common meeting place for PSU fans ?
4) Do the PSU fans meet up anywhere on Thursday night for New Year's Eve ?

Thanks in advanced. I'm beyond excited to finally get to this event !

Also, if anyone has any information on why I can't post on Scout, please let me know. When I hit 'Post New Topic' or 'Reply' the "Star in a Circle" thing just continues to spin.

I apologize, I can't answer your questions since I've never had the opportunity to go to the Scuffle. That being said, if there are any job opportunities at Vandelay Industries that would allow me to go on this trip with you, I'd greatly appreciate putting in a good word on my behalf.

I'm not sure you're worthy of being my latex salesman.

I've been to every Scuffle in 'Nooga and the last one in Greensboro. This is as well run of a tournament as there is. Chattanooga is the deepest of the Deep South in the wrestling world. I think it is the southern most D1 wrestling program in the US. Mackenzie Arena is a good venue for a tournament.

There are probably 200-300 PSU fans there and probably the largest contingent there. Minny, Iowa, and Ohio State also has large groups. PSU fans generally sit in the same sections but I suspect they get their tickets from the Wrestling Club. I always sit in the front row of the top deck ( general admission) and can watch all 8 mats at a time in the early rounds. I've bought reserved seats in the past but still end up in the front center of the upper level. Except for the finals, you can sit anywhere you want and have a good view. Never cramped, easy quick access to rest rooms and concession.

There are breaks between sessions 1 and 2 on the 1st day and 3 and 4 on the 2nd day. There is enough time to walk into downtown and get a decent lunch. Parking is adjacent to the Arena for $5 (I think).

Since I live near Birmingham this tournament is a priority for me. Enjoy yourself, you'll come back every year.

If the interest in the PSWC Bus Trip is any indication, there will be more Penn Stater's in the stands than ever before.

I thought Art Vandelay was a judge now.

...mvattivo... this will be my first trip to the Scuffle, also...

...perhaps we can have a libation at some point between sessions...

The basic scoop on the Scuffle -- it is really high quality wrestling with plenty of good, inexpensive seating and held in a friendly small/mid-size Southern city. Some of the best college wrestling you'll see this side of the NCAA championships and easier to enjoy.

With hundreds of Penn State fans on hand, it's a sure thing there will be many opportunities for good conversation and a few brews.

Ohio State? They haven't been to the Scuffle since it's been in Chattanooga...I think you mean Oklahoma State.

A couple of points. There is no actual break on Day 1. However, after the pigtails (round of 64) and round of 32 there are about 3 hours worth of consys which usually don't have any or at most 1 PSU wrestlers so it's a good time to get something to eat and drink. Downtown Chattanooga has tons of restaurants and is less than a mile away. One thing to remember is the bowl schedule. Last year the break on Day 2 was at the same time as the bowl game UT was playing in and that made for a mess. The PSUWC bus trip is sold out so that's 50 or so PSU fan and many others show up. The reserved seats are the bottom section (blue seats as opposed to yellow seats). However, all of the seat are pretty good.

For those that were at the first Scuffle that PSU went to in Greensboro this may be similar in that we some amazing things from a couple (maybe 3 this time) freshman and at the same weights. 2011 Ruth beats Lewnes in the semis, 2016 Nickal beats Realbuto in the finals. Sweet.
