The Spanish Grand Prix starts tomorrow. The US is sending our World Team (which includes Zain Retherford) with the exception of Cox, who is presumably recovering from an injury. I've been looking for a livestream. This might be the link:

Spain is 6 hours ahead of us, so action should start around 3 AM tonight (East coast time).

I'm especially curious to see how Zain performs. Haven't seen any sign of brackets yet but the guys are all weighed in and ready to compete.

Just found this information on livestream and first match pairings:

MADRID, Spain – Nine American competitors have weighed in and received their draws for the first day of action at the Grand Prix of Spain set for July 15-16 at the Pabellón Exterior del CSD in Madrid, Spain.

Seven of the eight U.S. men’s freestyle World Team members will participate this weekend with Olympic champions Kyle Snyder (Woodbine, Md./Titan Mercury WC) and Jordan Burroughs (Lincoln, Neb./Sunkist Kids) headlining.

Snyder, the youngest Olympic champion in U.S. history, will begin his day against 2017 Nordic champion Sven Engstrom of Sweden at 97 kg/213 lbs. Snyder was a World champion in 2015 at the age of 19. He has earned two NCAA titles for Ohio State University with a year of eligibility remaining.

Burroughs is set to face the experienced Taimuraz Friev of Spain in his opener at 74 kg/163 lbs. Friev has previously topped this event three times. Burroughs has won three World titles and four World medals in addition to his Olympic achievements.

Reigning World champion Logan Stieber (Columbus, Ohio/Titan Mercury WC) opens against relatively inexperienced Mansour Abdellatif of Italy at 61 kg/134 lbs. Stieber was a four-time NCAA champion for Ohio State prior to winning the World Championships last year.

World bronze medalist and three-time U.S. World Team member James Green (Lincoln, Neb./Titan Mercury WC) takes on 2017 Kristjan Palusalu Memorial champion Andruse Aimar of Estonia in the first round at 70 kg/154 lbs.

First-time World Team members and two-time NCAA champions Zain Retherford (Benton, Pa./Nittany Lion WC) and Nick Gwiazdowski (Raleigh, N.C./Titan Mercury WC) are in the mix tomorrow. Retherford has drawn Austria’s Gabriel Janatsch in his first bout at 65 kg/143 lbs. Gwiazdowski starts the day at 125 kg/275 lbs. against two-time Canada Cup silver medalist Sean Molle of Canada.

Thomas Gilman (Iowa City, Iowa/Titan Mercury WC), the 57 kg/125 lbs. U.S. World Team member and past Junior World bronze medalist, stands opposite 2016 World University bronze medalist Steven Takahashi of Canada in the first round.

Also entered in the men’s freestyle competition is American Waylon DeCoteau (Belcourt, N.D.) who will face A. Kariarev of Russia in the first round at 97 kg/213 lbs.

2017 Kristjan Palusalu Memorial bronze medalist Nick Tarpley (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) is the lone U.S. entrant in tomorrow’s Greco-Roman tournament. Tarpley will face 2016 Mediterranean champion Carlos Señaris of Spain in his first bout at 75 kg/165 lbs.

The competition in Spain will begin at 9 a.m. local time with the men’s freestyle tournament followed by the Greco-Roman tournament at 4 p.m. Each tournament will be wrestled to completion.

Madrid, Spain, is located six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time, meaning those wishing to watch live can tune in at 2 a.m. (ET). A live stream of the event, as well as brackets, can be found at http://www.felucha.com/noticias/gran-premio-de-espana-2017.

Request: Someone watch and recap this, so I can catch up, tomorrow. In return, I'll do my best to watch/recap Fargo on PSU-related guys.

Retherford pinned his first guy from Austria in 15 seconds. It was actually more like 7 or 8 seconds, but the referee delayed calling it. Double leg to his back (4 points) and then was waiting for the call to end it.

Gilman won, I think, but not sure of the final score. He was up 10-5 later in the second period. Green won 12-2. Zain pins his second guy after being up 11-0. A tougher nut to crack than his first opponent though.

Zain pins hi guy in the first. They can't stop his turk. On to finals.

Green wins by pin. Gilman wrestling again now. I can't get any action on mats 3 and 4 to know what the other guys are doing.

Good thing my phone worked at least for a few mins because I still can't figure out how to get the feed playing on my laptop. Side note....You have to love international competition where the ref is almost another competitor out there. To be fair the ref scolded both Zain and the guy from Iran at least a few times for hands. Yeah it was a little chippy but that guy just couldn't keep pace with Zain.

Thanks to all for the updates. I slept in today and is great to read about Zain and the whole team doing well.......with coffee and thoughts of bacon and eggs.

Thanks again

Holly heck so everyone won Gold ? Were all the best wrestlers there ? Seems odd

Holy crap. Thanks for all the updates, guys.

Coffee is still brewing, so I want to make sure I am reading this correctly. We won 7 of 8 weight classes, and didn't have anyone entered in the 8th, which would have been Cox or Taylor? That's pretty good, right?

Sounds great but i don't know if all the best wrestlers were there. Still a great job by the entire team. Zain looked OUTSTANDING ! Young man is simply unreal !!!!

I think Gwiz is the only member of team USA w/o a world level medal on their resume.

So this is what the powers were envisioning when they hit the reset button on wrestling.

But this isn't the toughest tourney out there.
Also speaks of our team that 2 are still in college, and 2 just graduated.

Not sure what any of this has to do with Nick Suriano but... sure, actual wrestling is good too. I guess. It's been awhile.

Too bad Zain had to finish the day off with a non-pin blemish.

Looking forward to scouring the internet for footage of the massacre. Pessimistic about my chances based on the complaints about the disappearing feeds. Would be nice if USA Wrestling provided something, even if only later on. I get that they don't have rights necessarily, but if the rights holder isn't interested in providing a reliable feed and mechanism to watch archives, why should the UWW care? Maybe time to hit Foley's bag of mail.

JV tournament.

But congrats to Zain.

True but by steam rolling the way they did I think this is as good a result as can be expected. Plus no reports of injuries which is also good as the final tuneup before worlds.

When is it not time to hit Foley in the bag?
I'd like to punch him right in his Yurt!
