Yes, an "anonymous" claim in the newspaper after the fact is questionable. But we well know top end high school athletes often get a pass for poor behavior. This sounds like a good thing to work out locally.

Unsigned letters or letters with fictitious names assigned are almost always from the parent of a kid on your team.
Saw this often not only when I coached, but it was once or twice a year as AD.
Best story came from another district where the veteran AD got a letter trashing the football staff. It coincided with a switch at QB that ironically resulted in my son being named the starter.
The AD got on the public address system during the next game and repeatedly asked "Mr. Smither's to report to the press box."
Of course most people had no idea what it was about, but those of us in the know had a real good time with it.
