On another site there is a fascinating discussion going on about "Spread" Offenses as related to Franklin's choice of offenses going forward. Everyone knows that teams like Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Washington State are pure "spread" teams, but what about teams like Oklahoma? The Big XII is known for "spread" offenses but is a team like Oklahoma unfairly lumped in? Would it be fair to suggest that schools like Oklahoma and Clemson and others display "elements" of the Spread as opposed to being full Spread teams? Are these "Hybrid" offenses more than anything? Was the Darryl Clark years at PSU "Spread HD" a hybrid offense that still retained a power running game? Can you have a "spread" Offense and retain a power running game? Are the two mutually exclusive?Thoughts?
