If you are in State College for this weekend, State College High opens up its 2018 football season against Mifflin County Friday, August 24 at 7 PM. You might want to check the Little Lions out.
This will be an excellent season for the Little Lions. State College is the 7th ranked football team at the 6A level in Pennsylvania and is the projected winner of the Mid-Penn Commonwealth title this fall.
The No. 1 reason for State College's outstanding 2018 football season is the fact it is believed the Little Lions have four quality FBS college level players in the classes of 2019 and 2020.
Right now CB Keaton Ellis [5-11, 172], who is a Penn State verbal commitment and will enroll at Penn State in January 2019, is the 7th best overall rated player in Pennsylvania's class of 2019. State College's other three blue-chip FBS prospects are all in the class of 2020. Those three are: RB Isaiah Edwards [6-0, 195], OL/DL Addison Darby [6-3 1/2, 272] and OL Ramsey Kifolo [6-2, 308].
Edwards is rated as probably one of the top three or four running back prospects in Pennsylvania's class of 2020. Last season seeing limited action, Edwards rushed for 534 yards and averaged just less than 7.0 yards per carry. Most are projecting Edwards to have a breakout season this fall.
Darcy was a third-team all-state player at Bangor High in Bangor, Maine last fall as a sophomore last fall. He plays on both the offensive and defensive line. Darcy transferred to State College this spring.
Kifolo is one of eight starters back on State College's offense for the 2018 season. Many believe if Kifolo could grow and inch or two over the next two seasons, he could turn into a high level OG prospect at the FBS college level.
Many believe this State College team after posting a 10-3 record last season at the very least is a credible team capable of making it to the semifinal game of the PIAA 6A playoffs this fall.
