No way around his, last night's loss to Iowa was just plain ugly. I will not make an excuse for Chambers or the team it was ugly and they did not compete. Credit to Iowa they came in and handled their business easily, which good teams should do. Iowa is a good team, I wish we just competed more.
Let me first say some of the threads posted after the game are obvious, 'if PSU basketball will ever see success.? " This is obvious, you can judge Chambers of the program until you get some real basketball talent in the program, we are playing with about 2.5 Big Ten players right now, to lost that after last night is just silly, 100% if us knew the outcome of last night's game before it started.
PSU basketball will see improvement over the next couple of years, what your definition of success is up to you all? The talent infusion next year is key and how hose four recruits develop along with Shep and Reeves are vital to the program. The Big Ten is a very strong conference this year and when you are under manned you are going to see losses like last night. I will say be patient and what and see with next years class coming in.
I personally believe in Chambers, but you can't judge him this year by this team, you just can't, in my opinion. Ed Dillichlious left this program in shambles and it takes a LONG time to get it right. Sort of like Franklin right now with PSU football. Expectations need to be re-evaluated and tempered.
What I would like to see improved next year is:
1) Post passing and our passing in general, I want more pace and space. Our guard dribble way too much out on the perimiter, we need to move the ball quicker, crisper, and more selfless.
2) Need to get tougher, plain and simple. From inside and out. Way way way too many layups last night, can't happen in big time college basketball.
3) Team D needs to improve, there is sometimes a lack of communication out there, it is absolutely obvious.
4)Simply these new recruits and current players need to learn to SACRIFICE for one another. It is an attitude that needs to be all over the program, not just two or three players.
Lots of work needs to be done. I have seen minor improvement this year. But more imorovment needs to occur over the coming games, weeks, months, and years. You can have all of the top recruits you want, but if they don't blend and mesh together it won't work, loom at UK right now.
