it has been four years since that BOT decided to stick their heads in the sand, fire Joe, and allow Freeh and NCAA to run rough shod over school.
So, I thought in light of the opinions expressed here it makes sense to review where we were and where we are going, my expectations. I just do not see how some ecpect PSU to perform when it clearly shows sanctions are still affecting this team.
Nov 2011 Joe fired, tail spin begins, Jan 2012 OB hired
2012:
Recruiting 18 kids, 11 3-star, 1-4 star Lewis stays two years, transfer kids will hurt at LB, DE and RB.
Season 8-4
Milestones, no bowl game Hack commits,
Comments OB won when no one expected him to with journeyman QB, played season with 75 scholarship players
2013:
Recruiting: sign 18 kids, 3 4-stars, plus Hack
Season: 7-5 no bowl but beat UW in last game
Milestones, no bowl, game Hack stays committed, played with less than 75 players on scholarship
Comments: OB works his magic and Hack stars in NASCAR O, D Suspect, leaves for NFL, JAN 2013 Franklin hired.
2014:
Recruiting: sign 25 kids, 6 4-stars
Season: 6-6 win Pinstripe bowl against BC
Milestones, sanctions lifted, game Hack stays committed, bowl game win
Comments: first season with Franklin, D soars, O struggles, first normal size class but quality not there, down 10 scholarships, sanctions reduced
2015:
Recruiting: sign 25 kids, 11 4-stars, quality begins to show
Season: ??? bowl TBD
Milestones, improvement in overall play with wins on road and win Bowl game.
Comments: still concerns over ST play and lack of O production, still down 4 scholarships
2016: (expectations)
Recruiting: sign 22-25 kids, Highly rated class
Season: 8-4 or 9-3
Milestones, win mid level bowl,
Comments: quality of past two classes begins to show on ST play and overall depth overall improvement in O play, OL play improved but quality players begin to show on depth chart and get meaningful snaps for starting next year as senior laden line moves on...
2017 and beyond
Recruiting: sign 25 kids with class rated in top 10
Season: 9 plus wins
Milestones, win bowl game
Comments: here is where PSU needs to return to normal expectations.
