Steelers defense the culprit, not Pickett

Kenny didn't play well. The decision that resulted in his second pick was exactly why he wasn't playing. He's not ready. And now Tomlin is either going to have to put Mitch or Kenny in a horrible situation next week because he's mismanaged the situation. You can blame the D all you want (other than Minkah and Cam they're incredibly average) but Kenny gave them the short field and threw away an opportunity for points. Again, Kenny didn't play well.
Pickett is ten times better than Trubisky already. I used to watch him in Chicago. Straight trash.
He took teams coached by Matt Nagy to the playoffs
Pickett threw 3 picks today. Aside from a very nice throw to Freiermuth that set up the second TD he was not good today.
So in 2 quarters of play Clipboard Kenny cost the Steelers a win against the hapless Jets, cost them any chance of making the playoffs, and cost Tomlin any chance of continuing his streak of non-losing seasons. If the Steelers wanted to replace Trubisky, they should have used Rudolph. Pickett had one decent season in college and only because he played against cupcakes every week. We learned today that Pickett is a bust. The Steelers would have won today with Rudolph at QB and a stud offensive lineman that they could have had instead of Clipboard Kenny. Picking Pickett will go down in Steelers history as the worst draft pick they ever made.
This is probably for the best. This team needs to be bad for two or three seasons to rebuild properly. Finishing 9-8 or thereabouts and squeezing into the playoffs and getting blown out is the worst thing. This team most likely will be 1-7 after the first eight games.
Did you also think Peyton Manning was a bust after going 3-13 and leading the league in interceptions his rookie season? This is a Mark Madden-esque outlandish take…
Obviously not. The offense looked night and day when he was on the field. They actually attacked the middle of the field and converted more big chunk plays than they did under Trubisky. He’s going to have his rookie lumps, but he gives them a greater chance to win than the former. Now we’re all along for the ride…
3 interceptions, no TD passes, a QB rating of 65 in 2 quarters of play. If he played the whole game I wonder if he would have tossed 6 interceptions. Clipboard Kenny isn't playing Duke or Youngstown State anymore.
The Steelers should play Rudolph the rest of the season, send Pickett to the USFL where he belongs, use Trubisky as the backup, and draft a real stud QB with their early draft pick next year.
I would say simply that Picket is not the answer, and yes they would have been better off building a good offense line.
Well, after what looks like is going to be a disastrous season, they should have a high enough number one draft choice to draft one of the best o-linemen in 2023.
About the only way that scenerio plays out is if the Steelers fire Tomlin and hire you as the coach.
Pickett found a way to get into the end zone twice in the second half, with Trubisky looking like the #2 draft choice bust he has his whole career. It seems likely that Pickett will be getting the majority of the playing time at QB for the Steelers the remainder of this season.
I wasn't sold on Pickett going into the draft and obviously the jury is still out, but when I watch Pitt play this season it is apparent that Pickett made Pitt's collection of 2 star Olinemen look a lot better than they actually are due to his ability to sense the rush and move around in the pocket, and scramble successfully on occasion, traits that Trubisky does not have and that will serve Pickett well in the NFL as well.
Rudolph will likely be playing for another team the minute a team gets despirate and offers the Steelers a modest draft pick for him.

Pickett didn't play well today. No reason to believe he's not the future. He had no prep for this game but he made poor decisions which is why Mitch was playing. Let's not forget one of the scoring drives was a 4 yard drive.
I agree and as annoying as this loss is since it is against a bottom feeder team in a game we should have won it is for the best. Let's hope we finish with a top 10 pick or even #5 or 6 pick or better. We have to rebuild through the draft. Winning games this year does nothing for us long term. All the strong teams in the AFC will kill us in a playoff game. I have no interest in getting pummeled by KC or Buffalo or Baltimore or whomever in the playoffs.
Hopefully we lose out and get Will Anderson to put opposite of Watt or trade the pick to someone who will overpay to take Young or Stroud.
There is an upside to playing Pickett the rest of the season. Looking at the Steelers' schedule, Pickett will very likely lead them to the number 1 draft pick next April. They can then trade that pick to the Giants for Saquon Barkley.
And QB on the roster can lead them to the first pick in the draft
