I don't know if I agree with that, but, the Steelers went from 1980 to 1996 without appearing in a Super Bowl. I think we could be in the middle of an even longer drought. Ben is not getting any younger/better, and they will not surpass the Patriots, and now the Chiefs. For years they dominated their own division, aside from a few times when Baltimore was really good. Now Cleveland may legitimately be good as well. I cannot see them getting to a Super Bowl until many years have passed and a lot of teams are in a different position. They really need to do a good job of succession planning at QB.
Yeah the Malone/Brister era was not very good. But honestly, everything turned around as soon as Cowher showed up, and were in a Super Bowl even with Neil O'Donnell within 3 or 4 years. They should have been in 2 or 3 more super bowls under Cowher. They blew it very badly, at home, against the Chargers and Broncos. And there were at least two vs the Patriots where they could have won with a better game plan.Pats could decline too. KC will be the team to beat.
Thing about the Steelers they do have young talent like Conner, JuJu, Watt, Dupree, Edmonds.
Steelers killed them selves psssing on Marino. They could have went Bradshaw-Marino-Big Ben and woukd have won at least 2-3 more Super Bowls.
Two HOF coaches, maybe the best at their craft ever.Amazing, in this supposed age of parity, that the Patriots and Alabama dominate the NFL and CFB.
