honestly if Butler improves their D at all they should be super bowl contenders. Their Offense is so good. Bell is amazing.

I should also add what Munchak has done with their OL.

It could be one of the best in the AFC right now. Thought they were awesome last season. Decastro especially.

I'll respectfully disagree. The schedule is difficult and I am not sold on the defense. I see a regression, a record of 9-7, and no playoff appearance. Sorry. :(

Yes. Munchak came into the ideal situation, a young group of talented olinemen, and coached them to the next level of play.

;)

I know it's not a popular position, but I'm trying to be realistic. The Steelers supposedly have the toughest schedule in the NFL. The defense last year wasn't very good. They just lost a terrific kicker in Suisham. I'm not sure I see the reason for optimism.

Lol,their secondary is awful, awful, and their schedule will be difficult with numerous long road trips. No SB this year.

Their schedule is tough, but they will see NE without Brady and SF lost a lot. Denver and Seattle will be tough, but Steelers put what, 60 on Indy last year.

I expect the Judge to rule in Brady's favor.

It's possible, but I still think in the time table he misses the first week.

I also think this teams best defense could be their offense. If it goes full throttle they could outscore anyone.

Well Nate. I certainly hope you're right.

I usually break the schedule into quarters and try to find stretches that are make or break. IMO, that stretch is games 5-8. Anything less than 3-1 and they're going to be in a dogfight till the final day with 3 of last 4 on road against the division. They can make up for any lapses against weaker teams by beating both Colts and Broncos though.

This isn't going to be easy for them.

@ Patriots
49ers
@ Rams
Ravens
Prediciton: 3-1

@ Chargers
Cardinals
@ Cheifs
Bengals
Prediction: 3-1

Raiders
Browns
@ Seahwaks
Colts
Prediction: 2-2

@ Bengals
Broncos
@ Ravens
@ Browns
Prediction 2-2

I agree that the schedule is tough but the secondary is much improved from last year. No more old/slow ike taylor and we add the guy from Philly (Boykin??) who will at worst be our slot CB. Our pass rush should also be better which will help the secondary.

The offense is returning every starter from last year and will only be better...which should scare the shit out of every defense we face.

Ya know what I think? ...... I think these mid teens of the 21st century resemble the mid 70's of the 20th century.....Pirates and Steelers were annual contenders, Penn State was annually in the conversation for the National Championship.....or maybe it's just the wine talking.

Those were certainly olden days for every Penn State/Pirate/Steeler fan. If it's the wine, send me a case.:) Oh, and send the bill to GLOV.

Opened up a 2011 Dutch Henry Zinfandel... a bit bold for a warm summer night....but it does have a certain way of making me think happy thoughts.....

One of my PSU roommates lives in Fox Chapel.....you appear to be a bit too profound to be him.....
HAAAAAAAAAA! Villanova/IUP grad and damn proud of it. So it ain't me.

I've been called a lot of things in my long and pockmarked career, without question this is the first time 'Fox' and 'profound' have appeared in the same sentence.

If the old Steelers Run D is back, they could beat Seattle. I don't see Wilson or Lynch running alot on them.

Did you watch the Steelers offense last year? They will be better this year.
I don't take that as a given, but assuming they are, the defense is not guaranteed to be better and the schedule is most assuredly much worse. The loss of Suisham alone could cost us a couple of games. The guy they brought in looks capable, but he was available for a reason, and kicking at Heinz Field is always dicey. Like I said, I hope you're right but I have my doubts.

As I said, I believe with Butler, their D is going to be alot better. I am not worried about the schedule. Their offense is good enough to out score anyone.

The plan to replace Suisham was revealed tonight, and it is a lot like BOB's plan when Ficken was struggling. Go for 2 after each TD...... And Ben looked like he is going to enjoy that strategy if indeed it is a regular thing.......

I worry about the pass rush...I just don't see it happening again this year.
I'm not sold on the D at all. I think they struggle in the secondary as well. LB's should be solid though
