Remember when Gisecki couldn't catch a damn thing? How many drops did he have in 2014 and 2015?

He's just one of the great turnaround stories no one is talking about on this team. He caught everything in site in front of 32 NFL teams yesterday and at the combine.

They say we don't have a proven tight end this year. But going into 2016, many doubted Gisecki. I think we'll be fine this year.

I think you are spot on. We are likely not going to see TE play like we did out of Gesicki the Senior, But Holland and others have been training for the job for several years.... can not wait for it to play out.

We might have a drop off in TE catches but Mike was a terrible blocker and never really improved. I'm hoping we'll make up for a fantastic receiving tight end with a significantly improved running game and short yardage offense.

I don't think he dropped a single pass the last 2 seasons.

Franklin should have fired Gesicki.

It had something to do with who was throwing it to him. Sure, Gesicki has ups, but it’s still almost impossible for him to catch those 100 mph fast balls that were 10 feet over his head when he was only 5 yards off the line of scrimmage. All of the receivers caught more balls when the QB changed...accurate touch passes sure do improve productivity.

Bull$hit. Many of the passes Gesicki dropped his Soph year were on blind roll outs where Mike ran a 7 yard out pattern and the QB delivered it while on the run. That was the offense at the time. It was odd because the word in practice was the kid never dropped a thing. Yet, in games, he couldn't catch a cold. Great for 88 in improving his pass receiving skills his Jr and Sr years.

He dropped a huge one in Columbus as I recall in 2015. Ball hit him right in the belly and he dropped it. Could have been a game changing play. But Mike has been money for 2 seasons. Hasn't dropped a single ball. Best hands in the country this year.

Replacing mike will be the second tallest order after replacing Barkley....maybe harder because we have some really good running backs. Mike literally had one of the best all time combines at the position, and as you’ve said he catches everything.

The issue was always in his head, not his hands. He made a few difficult catches, but missed the easy ones. To much time to think.

His turnaround was impressive - I almost wonder if he got contacts, lasik or something.

I thought he was actually under-utilized the past two years. Would have liked to see more red zone plays where the ball was thrown about 13 feet in the air, where he was the only player on the field (possibly the only player in CFB) who could get to it.

I don't think he dropped a single pass the last 2 seasons.
And caught a few tough ones...

I read a combine scouting report on Gesicki that stated a dropped pass hadn't been attributed to him in 2 full seasons. I don't care who you are, that's a remarkable stat for anyone catching passes regularly. He will be greatly missed and I hope he kills in the the NFL.

Sanctions forced him to play before he was ready. To say this kid ever had stonehands is insulting.

His last years he plucked the ball from the air with his hands, caught with his hands. Earlier he tried to bring the ball to his body. Two very different ways to field the ball, ask an infielder.

LOL at trying to blame Hack...this board smh. Hack was not an issue with Gesicki...it was the other way around. Gesicki wasn't ready at the beginning of his career.

That drop against OSU 2015 --- which would have given us a first-and-ten inside the OSU 15, already up 3-0 --- was the play immediately preceding the Saquon Barkley TD run that got called back because of Brian Gaia's (rather unnecessary) holding penalty.

Those plays back-to-back: we had a chance against OSU in 2015 but you just sort of knew after those 2 consecutive plays we'd lose big.

Back to Gesicki: definitely big props to him for his turnaround in 2016 & 2017. I never would have expected it in October 2015. But it happened, and it happened in a VERY remarkable way.

I agree with you a 100% It was too early for him to play. That is obvious to everyone.

And calling him Stone Hands was an insult. Thank you Captain Obvious.

That's also why he is the best turn around story on this team that no one is talking about.
