"Crime in the black community increased between 600% and 800% between 1963 and 1993". This was the result of welfare. I lived in those times and remember Cabrini Green and Compton. These were welfare housing. Worse, if you were a single mother you got paid more. Worse yet, the more kids you had, the more money you got. So in the 80's "mother's day" was the first Monday of the month when govt Aid to Dependent Children checks were cut. Bad women would get an apartment in Cabrini Green and fill it with as many kids as they could pump out. The kids would live in the room in the winter and on the streets in the summer. Often, they'd end up in gangs because that was their only means of survival. Even couple would officially divorce just to get a larger govt check. And poverty? It didn't improve, it actually got worse.
