Already this story is over in the media....media has moved on and not a single Subway executive taking any heat? Nobody camped out at Subway HQ asking tough questions? No investigative journalists trying to get their 5 minutest of fame? Compared to what PSU went through? Amazing how a corporation handles this vs PSU.

I was thinking the same thing. Why didn't that co-worker of Jared's who told upper management about his behavior go to the police? And, why isn't she being hung out to dry like JoePa?

JoePa was a holier-than-thou icon and people cannot fathom that he could be genuinely a good person and run a clean football program competitively. This was all about the blood sport of tearing down (gleefully) a saintly image. People love to kill others' reputations because it makes them feel better. Nobody at Subway has a public persona so there is no buzz-worthy reputation to destroy for mass consumption. Hence, no story. If Subway were run by Santa Clause you better believe it would run the 24-hour news cycle.

I like how Fogel "BoT" off his vics for a 100K each. What did our BoT give away to each?

My thoughts exactly. Joe and the football team were used by both the prosecution and the media.

We don't know or care to know those at Subway...they probably acted consistently throughout their business careers, which the general public already does not trust or think it's in their best interest...so no new news.

The only thing worse than the public's and media's obsession with tearing down the good is their reluctance to state when they were wrong.

Well said, and I agree entirely!

Perhaps they would if Jared was allowed to shower with kids alone after hours at Subway. Or if subway allowed him to take unrelated children with him on business trips and stay in his hotel room. Or if someone reported him to them and they did nothing. Or if the kids were molested at subway. They are two totally different situations.

Not discounting many good points made in this thread by others, about how many people like to tear down the successful and those who live by higher standards.

Also consider the old Follow the Money adage.

Subway provides mega money to TV networks and radio via advertising.

Commercial Media and TV networks don't want to lose a major revenue stream, by ticking off a very big cash cow.

From an Ad industry source:

Subway is the world's biggest sandwich chain. It overtook McDonald's as America's biggest fast-food restaurant by number of outlets in 2002, and achieved the same feat on a global scale in 2010.

Ad Age estimated global measured advertising expenditure of $635m in 2013. In the US, Kantar (in Advertising Age) reported measured expenditure of $533m for 2014, out of an estimated total of $536m.

It's because this isn't a 'sports story', and there isn't an ESPN to beat the living sh*t of it non-stop on each and every outlet they have with 200 unqualified talking heads give their uninformed opinion over and over and over and over....

Honestly, sports media is different than 'regular' media in that they absolutely do not let go of a story. I still get 45 minutes of Ray Rice and Deflategate and other non-stories every single day.

Oh you mean like the State of Pennsylvania doing nothing despite multiple reports and complaints regarding Sandusky from biological parents in regards to Sandusky's State-Licensed Adoption and Foster-Parenting activities....a plethora of complaints through the years about Sandusky to authorities from participants in his State-Regulated charity, etc... You mean nobody following up on those kind of reports or following up in a way to enable the CSA perpetrator like in1998 (or the recent malfeasance of DPW/CYS brought to light in Harrisburg or Lucerne County, etc...)????

Most humorous thing to me was the realization of how many people actually get their news from ESPN. Staggering.

Well, if I were being pessimistic, I'd say people were outraged that someone would put football over kids. But putting profits over kids is fine. This is America!

Big differences. I don't see the Subway Board of Directors basically admitting guilt and throwing their management under the bus, and then saying they're going to hire someone to write a report to tell them how to fix their culture problem. And, it's one person claiming this. Not a Grand Jury having a grandstanding press conference, complete with "Wanted" style posters of the accused. With ironclad evidence! And investigation results showing they're guilty! And emails! Just read the Grand Jury report. If it's there, it must be true.

Amazing how someone can sound so righteous and all-mighty right when their whole argument is based on the misuse of the English language. No one was "allowed" to shower with kids alone.

or if Subway sent him on promotional trips, where he could get to know franchise owners, and ask them odd things involving their kids. Oh, never mind

No one stopped him from showering with children alone. Does that work better for you? Several coaches testified that it happened regularly and no one stooped him.
