Flush toilet. Water filling up the tank is very slow. I turn valve off and then back on and the water flows faster and fills up the tank like normal. Same thing happens every time I flush. Turn valve off then on and it flows like normal. Any ideas before I call the plumber. TIA.

I assume you mean the shutoff valve. If so, it is easy, and cheaper, to replace without the services of a plumber. Buy a compression valve and not a solder valve. Tighten well. The old compression ring may be hard to remove. If so, try removing with pliers. Don't crush it. If that doesn't work use sharp chisel flush to pipe and gently tap. I have done this. Sand copper pipe clean before installing replacement valve.

I'd replace the tank valve first, not the one at the wall. The one at the wall never moves, so unless you have some type of build up that keeps fluttering and reclogging, its most likely not that valve. The tank valve on the other hand has plenty of parts that can wear out. Go to Lowes and buy a universal valve kit and replace. Its cheap, easy, and less involved than the wall valve. Turn off water, drain tank, and follow instructions on kit. A couple of simple wrenches and screw drivers are all you need.

Okay I will try this first, it's easier. It just seems odd that if I turn the shut off valve off then on that the water flows at the normal rate. Bot obviously something is not working properly.
