That's what happens when you bring in players who have no terminal loyalty to a school. When I was in high school and college, PSU had players like Parlevecchio and Bauer who figuratively would've done anything to win and, if PSU lost, it probably affected them until the next win; they considered it an honor to wear that uniform. There just aren't enough of those player who have that attitude these days; it's mostly all about trying to get to the NFL.

I'm not saying that PSU shouldn't use free agency to supplement holes, but Dabo Sweeney may be on to something with wanting to go with his own recruits.

James could be in running of Coach of the year. It should go to Cignetti as of now, or one of the Service Academies perhaps....but James will get some votes.

And 10-2 isn't impressive in the ACC. Also they still have USCe and Pitt. Neither team is great but both can beat them. Well maybe not Pitt

Monken (Army), Newberry (Navy), Danielson (Boise) Lashlee (SMU), Sitake (BYU), Prime, Cignetti, Lannin and maybe Kiffin will get love.

What did James do that would put him in the running? He's meeting expectations.

If he were still sending 1st round QBs, WRs, and DLs to the draft you would be right. Clemson went all in on football. They cut sports. They spent money on facilities. The toughest replacements for them has been coordinators. Elliott, Scott, and Venables. They were highly important for Dabo's prime run.

If the actual coaches voted for coach of the year, CJF would certainly get Ryan Day's vote.

Day is 6-0 against PSU and coach CJF as the head football coach at OSU. Would Day even still be OSU's head coach without his record against PSU? His record is rather pedestrian against other top teams that are not named Penn State.

I am not in the camp of firing CJF. But I, like many of you all, are frustrated by our repetitive lack of success against the Buckeyes.

Day's career has been made by beating Franklin every year. It is his signature accomplishment along with I guess making the finals in 2020 but that was a shortened season.

Fair enough--we'll see. I find that hard to believe because the "book" on Franklin is he can't beat Michigan or Ohio State
I think it will be a great season if we win a playoff game--just can't see that getting him votes with the surprise season some (Boise, BYU, Indiana, Army, Navy, SMU, etc) are having

If Cignetti finishes 11-2 with a playoff loss, he's getting coach of the year. IU's best season ever, regardless of how strong the team really is, won't go unnoticed.
