Surreal Moment..Played Texas Hold em with Mark Hall !!

So I am at a Casino in Pa... I sit at a new table and I hear a guy say yeah I wrestled for Penn State a Couple years ago.. I look over wondering who is fabricating such a tale.. I almost passed out..It was None Other then Mark Hall.. Such a great guy.. Super Humble.. Of course I was the only person who knew all of his accolades.. He had the nerve to tell somebody he did Ok in College..That he was pretty good he guessed..I just looked around at the table and said I wish he would let me tell you guys how good he really is.. I dont think he wanted the attention.. We played together for 5 or 6 hours.. I said can I ask you just 1 question.. He said sure...I said Is there anyone now or in the last 15 years that could beat Cael in the Room.. He said Not if Cael is going 100%, Nope... I found that Awesome..lol

I’ve heard similar estimates of Casey’s ability. Evidently he continued to get a lot better after he graduated.

You should have asked him if Nico ever beat anyone in the room. 😁

Funnily enough, at the Olympic trials we ended up sitting by a man who claimed to be Mark's dad. He didn't really have any reason to lie about that claim, but we didn't fully believe the guy either...that is until after Mark lost in the consolations and came and sat RIGHT next to us to watch the rest of the session. Needless to say we are all still eating crow!

I was way too nervous to strike up a conversation with him, but he did talk to our group a bit and was very kind, even though I'm sure he was dealing with some very heavy emotions after just wrestling his last match.

River was useless he checked and I only bet 20 into a pot of 70+.. He called with 2 pair.. I said I didn't want to bank you..Its an honor to play with you..He smiled and said thanks.. Just an all around humble and low key guy.. I would say he was an avg to pretty good player..IANit- not on this night I ended up plus $550-600 to make it even better..

He obviously had you on a flush and you just made it too enticing for him to fold. Either you are a super smooth poker player and ruthless or just a nice guy with no real clue. Which is it?

did he show his cards or just say he had 2 pair? been a while since i've played but i thought the bettor had to show, then if the caller was beat they could choose to show or muck. i would always muck and lie about what i had if pressed, but also i wasn't that great at poker

You are correct lol.. person that bets shows first on the river… speaking of wrestlers.. played with Reece Humphrey at Borgata a few years ago.
