Excruciatingly dull to watch. Felt like watching two lumbering heavyweights just working each other's heads and completely devoid of action. YAWN.

Yes, he did. On pretty much his only shot the entire match. He did his best T-Shirt impersonation.
If you can believe it, T-Shirt was actually the "aggressor" most of the match.

Ha! Love it. That said, T-Shirt was the more active wrestler and actually pushed the "action", if you can call it that.
Matches like that certainly do not help to grow the sport.

Tsirtsis actually had some decent offense towards the end of this match, Sorenson waited until OT and picked the one shot he needed to hit, and hit it. Get mad at the refs for not calling stalling if you don't like it.

What is it about many teams pushing this defensive style, incl Iowa, Glad Penn State goes for it and doesn't try to back into wins with 2 escapes (incl 1 in OT)

Great post, dunk. Short, concise.

I'll add that other teams have guys that push it, and guys that don't. IMO, this is far more complicated than most fans believe.

That was the first match that Sorensen scored under five points. He pushes it against everyone but wrestling against TShirt is a whole other ball of wax. Definitely have to pick your spot.

Can't wait for 149 BIGs. Wow.....

Whoa.. Whoa.. Whoa.. It's either black or it's white.
I also heard Brands and Storniolo got into it after the match? I missed Midlands finals on account of no BTN TV and a high school tournament.

I saw Terry Brands... yelling towards the Northwestern side of the mat on BTN after the match. I was waiting patiently for a boil over. ;)

The Brands boyz are not dumb. Ever since Cael explained the bug and windshield theory to Tommy, the Brands are at least a little more selective deciding, where, when and to whom they will throw one of their intimidation intended verbal tirades.

Maybe Sorenson could have opened up a takedownfest like Rutherford did against the mighty Clagon.

Tshirt is about the hardest guy to score on in the country when he is game.

Look on Wikipedia under tit for tat could explain message boards to you.

If not I will concede that this thread will not end up being 3 pages long in determining that one match does not make a seaaon.

That match is what is killing wrestling. Absolutely watching paint dry. Horrific. Sorenson should have been called for stalling more than once.

Now it's just a peeing contest. Sorenson is a very good offensive wrestler, as is Retherford. I can't think of an ounce of criticism, despite both of their recent low scoring bouts. It's what happens when the competition is comparable. And I'm guessing a Retherford/Sorenson bout won't be high-scoring either.

Heck, DT scored 2 and 4 points his 2 matches against Dake, 5 and 6 against Caldwell, and no less than 8 in every other college match. Again, happens against great competition.

Roar, I agree but wouldn't use Stalledwell as a reference point... and Taylor beat him pretty badly in an earlier match.

Funny how how the Iowa crowd comes swooping in with ass slaps (slaps a fellow Iowa faithful with a like) for the Iowa poster who originates something, especially a defense ... of what amounted to a snooze fest like the T-shirt vs Sorensen match.

Please Penn State posters... don't ass slap me with some likes. I like my ass slaps with some action... like my wrestling.

And T-shirt is the biggest staller in the country to score on because he doesn't want to score... until the time is right. ;) Usually that never goes off in his head. He's in perpetual contemplation... should I take that shot?? Nah... I've always got.... overtime. Call it the Chris Perry syndrome.

It was in reference to you and Wildman ass slapping DonHawkeye when he posted this gem. It seems as if Iowa posters like to post non-sensical, tit for tat posts after having their feelings hurt about comments made on a Penn State wrestling site about one of their wrestlers who was part of a the snooze fest in a final of a major tournament.

That retaliatory comment was about a Penn State wrestler who's ranked #1 at the weight and then the Iowa horde mongers like to come in and try to validate the original drivel by DonHawkeye with (Likes). BJ wrestled a very tactical match against Zain and it was nothing like the "watch paint dry", action fest we saw your boy and T-shirt put on. At some point, I know had my eyes roll back into my head during the 149 Midlands Final and I know I flat-lined for parts of the match. o_O

( You have to pick your spots because Tshirt isn't going to shoot. He's always looking for the counter shot like Chris Perry or a Joey Dance. )

Love your posts - have me cracking up - you are spot on

Its a long season fellows just lets all calm down.
Was happy to see Andrew Long perform and before it started thought he would dominate like he did.
Kinda like Daniel Dennis coming back in free style..I hope Andrew gives some thought about going and trying to make the olymics team. He could be awesome in free style.

You and AZ chief are consistent on this board as well as your own. I appreciated your defending Andrew on your board from the standpoint that the kid is due some positive recognition for his turnaround while not condoning the actions that got him into trouble. You're both classy, balanced posters.
