if Nolf has to sit any matches causing tosu to win tourney, will little dick Tom have his crew don the Big champ shirts and pounding their chests like last year - being that is the only victory they will sniff?

Actually, I like most of the little bucks they can't help they have a DB as a coach - except for their commitment to that program.

My point is he'll take any hollow victory he can get and parade around like the second coming of Gable/Sanderson/Smith combined.

It's not much of a point. If they win they will celebrate, just like PSU will celebrate if we win and we won't cancel our celebration just because one of tOSU wrestlers gets hurt and doesn't wrestle.

Oh, he’s going to leverage it on twitter. #positive infinity and some of their other sloganeering will be used liberally. He’s a great salesman, but, to date, we’ve had a better product this decade. Need that to continue to keep the momentum going. If we can escape the Cerberus of Snyder, NATO and Bojo and only lose 1 NC to them during their era, that’s huge.

You are certainly free to dislike Tan Tom (you wouldn't be alone), but let's not act all sanctimonious about celebrating like PSU wouldn't do that. We see Mark Hall 'drop the hammer' and Bo Nickal's 'I can't hear you' and other excitable moments pretty often.

Individually, tOSU's wrestlers seem like genuinely good people. They'd all be pretty easy to root for in a different situation.

They're college kids competing in a very difficult sport. Let them celebrate their accomplishments, no matter the team they represent.

How many teams can say they have won the Bigs? Of course he will parade it around. It is a big recruiting tool and it says, hey, this is a good place to wrestle if you want to be great or on a championship team. No one will say, "hey we are not as good as the other team and we don't deserve to win, but come here if they won't take you."

If they win, they will have earned it. No reason to belittle a guy. There will be 12 other teams in the bigs that would love to win it besidesPSU and having an injured Nolf will not help them.

Also remember, they have a lot of guys that are taped up and injured also. Injuries are a part of the sport.

Some injuries are more equal than others. A healthy Nolf or even operating on 7 cylinders - given the emergence of the Shakren and Lee - and we walk to the title.

Just shows you exactly what others have been saying about Ryan that i know for sure....In hard times he will treat you like crap....Ask Roberts how he was treated at OSU and Haines and they will both tell you. Yes i am a PSU fan but Cael respects every single kid in his room. Go to pratice and you will see. Brands and Ryan have a lot of growing up to do to EVER be in the same conversation as Cael Sanderson....

How exactly would we ask Roberts how he was treated at OSU? He's dead.

Jackass.

El Jefe beat me to it, but this is a bad take for a litany of reasons.

Roberts had his own demons to deal with, and Haines was never going to crack the lineup with Snyder around. And Snyder could have gone anywhere, by the way. He chose tOSU in no small part because of Tom Ryan.

What if we ask Suriano how he feels about Sanderson? Not sure if he’d have much good to say (justified or not).

Ask NaTo or Snyder if they like Ryan as their coach. I bet they say ‘yes’. The point is that I have no doubt Ryan respects all of his wrestlers. The way he deals with the media is up for debate, as are his frequent complaints and excuses, but his coaching results are not.

Don’t throw out baseless anecdotal evidence that you aren’t prepared to back up with facts.

Yep. And whoever wins will don b10 garb for the photo.

You must spend as much time in the Iowa and tOSU wrestling rooms as you do PSU’s room to come to that conclusion!

I'm sure he meant rhetorically about Roberts.
I wouldn't be so sure about it. Real Spyker said all kinds of inflammatory things and then feigned ignorance or ducked behind others ... Claude the Fraud Lemieux of the board. Why should Fake Spyker get the benfeit of the doubt?

Haines was never going to crack the lineup with Snyder around. And Snyder could have gone anywhere, by the way. He chose tOSU in no small part because of Tom Ryan.
Adding onto this: Haines committed to Ohio State after Snyder did. They were roommates and workout partners -- surely Haines was not caught off guard when Snyder could no longer maintain 197 while wrestling 211 freestyle. Ryan gave him a full release. Not sure what else the coach could've done about that.

But Spyker.

I am all for making fun of Ryan, but come on. In the past 7 years Ryan has the second most number of NVSA and B1G championships.
Snyder said Tom was an ordained minister. Has to have some conscience I would assume. I know we're having fun making fun of these folks but let's not go overboard..... I'm sure all of our own houses are at least partially glass...

Tomasello and Snyder seem like good guys and I'm sure tTOM is part of the reason they chose tOSU but personally I'm not sure I could go for a team who's mascot is basically an acorn in a cardigan.

I still say we gave that one away with a certain RS.....

This has been a disappointing thread from the beginning. We don’t need to denigrate the opposition to praise our own. While I understand how some of Ryan’s behaviors are off-putting, they usually occur during the pressure of matches. As to the team, I have generally been impressed by the sportsmanship of the tOSU wrestlers throughout their lineup.

They do??

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for the conversation between Tom and Jake Ryan last year at B1G's. Must have been awesome having to tell your healthy son that he is going to default two seconds into his match because he is not good enough to win.

From a purely honest strategic point of view, that might have been the smart thing to do, more energy for first consolation match. However, I can never see a Cael, Brands or Smith ever doing something like that. One good thing about wrestling, you always have a chance as long as their is time on the clock, get the pin, you win.

That stunt is why I have very little respect for Tom Ryan. Could care less about his idiotic comments on social media or in interviews.

That's a fair criticism. I'm glad you brought this up because I was starting to feel a little dirty for defending Tan Tom in the last couple posts.

Not how we would have handled it.

Jake was not healthy going into big tens last season he dealt with a serious elbow injury which is part of the reason he isn’t wrestling this year. You can listen to him talk about it here around the 41 minute mark

I respect the hell out of you guys and I’m glad to see that respect is reciprocated as we are all wrestling fans who enjoy watching the sport but some of the jabs and things of that nature are just over board if you actually get a chance to know Tom you’d know he’s actually a pretty good guy definitely over the top at times and passionate about what he does but none the less a genuine good person and just to follow this, the latter of this post is directed more so at the op than it is you.
