Texas A&M pulls out of Gator Bowl

Also looks like Bill O'Brien and Doug Marrone both tested positive for the 'rona.

COVID!

Costing lots of $$$. Hello Rutgers, don't think they are in a bowl. With this announcement suspect just the start, anticipate other games to be canceled. Really hoping PSU plays, anxious to see LB play.

I read the bowl is trying to get a replacement. how the heck do you get a program, not already committed to a bowl, to throw together a team and play by December 31st>? Ain't gonna happen

COVID!

This is the kind of stuff, as well as all of the opt-outs, that is going to lead to the expansion of the playoffs to maybe as many as 16 teams. Otherwise, many of these bowls are going to disappear, and the various Chambers of Commerce aren't going to stand for it.

Maybe someone like BYU , Coastal Carolina or San Diego State opt in for another game? Why not (other than $ and Covid?)
that is an interesting thought. I believe that there is a max number of games the kids can play in a given season. But I don't know.

Or just to the demise of CFB

Sounds like if another bowl cancels, match up the teams. a bit of a long shot. But KY has done it twice in MBB. OSU whiffed and they subbed in UNC, and UL whiffed and Western KY tonight at 6. Fingers crossed PSU doesn't join the cancel club.

Agree.

The game isn’t until next Friday so other than some logistical problems, there is ample time for a team to prepare. During the season, some teams have games on Thursday or Friday nights, giving teams 5 or 6 days or preparation time. The bigger issue is getting enough players to either return to campus, or fly directly to Jacksonville and have the team practice and prepare there. I’ve read Illinois has said they would play if the offer is extended.

As much as I love the spectacle of college football, that might not be a bad thing. If nothing else, it might be good if this sport were recalibrated.
I don't disagree. Unfortunately, I see the P5 morphing into a P1 that looks a lot like today, and everyone else (PSU included) reforming into a 2nd tier. It's only a half-calibration and probably means PSU not playing at the highest level. If I'm close to correct, it would be interesting to see how the economics would play out.

I say delay the game a week and let us play in both. We are already in Florida, already practicing, and the youngins could use the practice time! We also have fans already there that would love to have another week in the Florida sun and turf.

Probably. Need to be prepared for the winter.
This sounds like my day verbatim. Woodpile is BIG this year . All kinds of goodies: Lots of oak, alligator juniper, aspen and some pine . Just in time to incense the neighborhood for the holidays . Happy holidays..... CF is a $#!t$#ow. The excitement now lies in watching the transfer portal and following the covid epic. I guess as long as we are entertained ?????

Look like CFB needs to start adopting NFL Covid protocols. Don't test unless player have symptoms.

This is gonna be hilarious... some team is going to commit to play.. then fing wake is gonna get covid and cancel... and so forth.

And no one dares ask the question... is ANYONE sick?

I said long shot , and yes logistics are tougher, but…….

I think A&M deserves some criticism here. A college team has 85 scholarship players and 20-30 walk-ons. They don't have enough to play? This is a major problem for everyone involved. Probably 30-40,000 tickets sold, TV contracts in place and lots of people hired to handle the game. Thousands of fans have vacation scheduled, airline tickets and hotel reservations.
