This is an example of what we are up against to compete with the big boys. Texas isn't a big boy on the field right now, but I'd imagine more schools will follow this approach and players are going to get paid some significant money as a result.

A rumor I read stated $8M is allocated for football. That's $94k per player on scholarship assuming it's an annual fund.

Is that $10m to fund NIL each year or is it a fund that uses returns to fund NIL? 6% avg return would be 600k to spend per year.

The next step is to not make them go to school and if they do go to school make them pay for it and be held to the same standards as other students.

Maybe the NIL money for the players will give the big name coaches less leverage to demand big money. If one thing the big name coaches do is attract good players then they have more leverage, but if the players start to be persuaded by how much NIL money they can get instead of who the coach is then suddenly throwing big money at a big name coach makes less sense.

$94k annually, to every player? At some point the starters are going to demand more than the reserves. The 5 stars will want more than the 3 star gets...gonna create tension.
Bad assumption that it will be distributed equally.

Player get bad grades gets booted from the team sues the school for failure to allow him to make a living.
