Thank you PSU FANS!

He
Mr. Brooks, you have raised one hell of a great young man in Aaron. He is such a great talent to watch and a pleasure to listen to him talk. Thank you for bringing him to Happy Valley.
GL at Olympic Trials, I assume he takes this opportunity for experience. DT, Bo, and Aaron wow... PENN STATE in the house!

I cannot agree more with the posts above. When I listen to AB speak after his matches or in press conferences, he just exudes PSU wrestling culture and I am so happy he is a leader on this team. Even better things are going to happen for PSU wrestling in the future as his attitude and gratitude is contagious.

I've been a PSU wrestling fan since the late 70s or early 80s and your son has absolutely become one of my all-time favorites, not just because of his behavior on the mat and his wrestling style, but also because of his exceptional demeanor off the mat. As has been said many, many times on this board, he's a fine young man and you're probably at least largely responsible for that.

We are very happy our son is at PSU and it takes a village. It is so important to make sure your children have the right people around them and Aaron has had great mentors and coaches for a long time and we are very thankful that it continues at PSU. The leadership in this program is incredible! We met a few fans this weekend and I’ll tell you it was so much fun!! The other thing I would like to share is the parents of the children you have met since they boys were like 6 years old are spread out at different universities. It was so fun to go eat with the Wisconsin families and Rutgers etc. we all are friends. We all laugh and enjoy the passion of the sport, but at the end of the day we all are still very close and root for each other to succeed. We are grateful for the amazing experiences and humbled by everyone’s love of our families. Thank you so much!!

Mr. John Brooks, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you keeping us informed about Aaron and PSU wrestling. As a fan of PSU wrestling and your son it is very refreshing to see a young man so grounded in his faith and bringing glory to our God. Thank you and Mrs. Brooks for the great job you have done raising Aaron to be the fine young man we see. I am really looking forward to these next several years of PSU wrestling and to see your son stand at the top of the podium 3 more times. God speed sir!

How does it feel being a big TV star, John? :)

You have so much to be proud of in Aaron. Congratulations!

AC Green the hard-battling NBA power forward had a reputation for being a born-again man of peace and man of God. Charles Barkley said he really knew the reputation was deserved, and really admired AC, when someone knocked out a tooth or two of AC’s during a game on over-physical play, and instead of knocking the dirty player’s head off, AC just picked up his teeth off the floor and continued playing as if nothing happened.

Aaron Brook’s core as a person was similarly live tested and validated in the Brands match, for all to see, when Aaron offered to shake the hand of the shameful/shameless biting man.

When people on here say Aaron Brooks is a fine man and great leader, it is based not just on an earnest face and nice words but on core-revealing action in the heat of live-moment crucible test(s).

I loved seeing David Carr congratulate Carter after his win and then, I believe, your son too! Awesome!

@Johnbrooks -- congratulations to your son, and to your family.

A few things you may have missed from threads during/after the tournament:

A post by my just after the end of Aaron's match:

Also, an annual update post by me that all of us are honored to see Aaron listed on:

You may be pushing things a bit with Rutgers (I kid). I believe it was Aaron that mentioned in his interview on ESPN (I think that's where it was ?? -- things run together after a bit) about how he's known David Carr for years, and they're all friends, and happy for each other.

I know I shouldn’t have a favorite wrestler on the team, but Aaron is mine. The way he carries himself on and off the mat is so impressive. It doesn’t hurt that Aaron was my great grandfather’s name either lol. Congratulations to you and your family!

Your son is one of the most strategic wrestlers I have seen (been watching Wrestling since the late 1970's). He always has a game plan in his head ahead of time for each opponent. Also, his overall conditioning for the sport is beyond phenomenal!
actually, that was the one thing i thought about with each of our champs. they all were technically sound and wrestled very strategical matches. they went in with a plan, stayed within themselves and executed flawlessly.
my guess would be the staff played a large role in that approach. that's how national champions are made. they are the gold standard in collegiate wrestling.

This, and in particular, in an era when information is all-too-often either hidden, mischaracterized, or outright false, the honesty and openness is more than a little refreshing. As my sig block says, "veritas similis currit aqua"

I loved Aaron’s post match interview in the media room. Aaron said he was “extremely blessed to be part of this program, it is more than just about wrestling.”
The last question was what one word describes how you are feeling? Aaron’s response “GRATEFUL”. John those two answers just emphasize how he was raised by you and mom!
Go Penn State!

Aaron is an awesome representative of our school and an even better kid. Bravo to Mom and Dad for how he's raised, and thank you for sending him here. We Are truly lucky to have him.
