This trifecta, back to back play-off couldn't come at a better time, as we bounce off a couple of rough years, a staff shake up plus some transfers. Meanwhile, Temple had a great year with their PSU-grad head coach. Pitt is hungry to claw us and win back recruiting rights to the state's top athletes, not to mention revive old rivalries. And, lets face it, we are a totally unknown entity.
So that should stir up the ambitions of at least two schools. Talk about pumped! I look for ESPN and the press in Philly and The Burgh to trumpet the possibilities. So we better be ready. And before we think too hard about the BT Championship, let's put our own house (the state of PA) in order first. In the inimitable words of Michael Keaton of Gung Ho fame: "CAN WE DO IT? I cant hear you! CAN WE DO IT? Damned right we can!" ( BTW Gung Ho is one of the most enjoyable movies Ive ever seen, and a PA movie no less. Check it out.)
And while you are, also check out our entire 2016 schedule. Be sure youre sitting down. It's pretty challenging. But at least we open against Kent. Boy do we need a home game to take the new O for a spin. But then we go to Pgh/Heinz Field, and the next week entertain good ole Temple in HV, followed by a road trip to UM, then a home game vs...you guessed it, MINNY, and to close out the first half of the season we entertain UMD in HV. Its one thing to face those guys with an experienced team with a seasoned stable of coaches.....This will be challenging for a new QB, and all new offensive coaches, new offense, plus a new DC.
Then after a week off, we face perhaps the toughest part of our schedule going down the home stretch. 2016 will be a real meat grinder, folks. Sure its way too early to talk about W-L records, but it looks like another year (groan) where the outcome could vary all over the place.
