It is likely that, next year, more and more football head coaches are going to offer their best recruits Grant In Aid agreements, which basically protect the recruit from losing his scholarship offer whenever the coach has a better use for the slot in his recruiting class. In fact, head coaches who intend to honor their recruits' commitments can provide those agreements to all of their commits. And, of course, those coaches who are comfortable throwing commits under the bus if somebody better comes along will conspicuously ignore the Grant In Aid option. Harbaugh has been able to get away with his tactics this year, but if you don't think recruits being offered by Michigan in the future will be warned about him by competing head coaches, think again.
