I think Iowa had 12 points from mff on consolations...man I hope that $hit doesn't continue at Nattys...I recall last year how Iowa tried to give Michigan points with mffs also...

Kids quitting because they lost on the front side and refusing to wrestle because baby got a little mat burn.

They got:
3 for when Omania got concussed against Murin
3.5 for when Yahya got concussed against Murin
3 for Malczewski forfeiting to Assad in the 7/8
3 for Caffey forfeiting to Warner in the 5/6

My personal analysis: 8 were a true gift. Max was definitely going to at least major Omania. Warner has never lost to Caffey, he wouldn't have pinned him but he would have won. The way Assad was wrestling, hard to see him beating any relatively decent wrestler let alone by pin. Max also IMO was going to beat Yahya this time around and 2 were a gift.

Whether they do or don't - it'll be what it will be.

But I do hope we never, ever see another GIA post about other teams rolling over for PSU again.

So you are actually saying Iowa gave points to Michigan (on purpose) with MFF? These statements are where the “fanatic” part of being a fan comes from. No division 1 wrestling coach is purposefully giving points to one team to see another one lose. They definitely choose to sit guys to give their guys the best chance to win in the future. And we’ve done it too. The rest is nonsense!

This is a bollocks take, mate. Omania got a concussion. Thomas suffered one as well. Caffey had his arm in a sling because of an elbow injury. Pretty easy to judge while you sit on your sofa at home.

Am I misremembering but weren't we bitching about Michigan getting mffs at last year's btt?
Of course we will do that. We are fans. In the heat of the moment, fans want our team to win.

And then, at the end of the day, we just want the kids to get healthy so they can accomplish their goals.

This sport is getting tougher. I don't care what any old timer says. We had broken noses, swollen eyes, crushed ribs....

Today, these kids have their joints twisted every match. (Ok, insert gif)

This is a really poignant point. I’ve never seen the injuries like we see today. And the talent is not “getting weaker”. These kids scramble like I’ve never seen at any time in the past. They dive over single legs and usually end up in a situation where both the offensive and defensive guy is in danger of being injured. And they are practicing this way. Injuries aren’t going away with the current rules and style.

We old timers had to endure something that none of you young'uns ever experienced. Mat burns. Every day, on your legs on your arms, Mat burns. Resilite transformed wrestling. I never had a mat burn in college, and it was a much more pleasant experience.

You have a point there.

The NCAA published a Sports Medicine Handbook several years in a row. The last one I could find was 2015. In it, wrestling and football were neck-and-neck in injury RATE. The data is normalized so it can be compared between sports. The next highest sport, Men's Ice Hockey, is about two-thirds the injury rate of wrestling and football. That's a significant gap. I love this sport, but it can be brutal, with every joint in the body being torqued, twisted, yanked on, etc.
