Long wait until we go bowling so I thought I'd share some thoughts as a "lurker". Meaning I've been around forever and I read a lot, but I don't post very often. My total posts in comparison to my time as a member clearly highlight this.
It's not always easy to have a good experience here, but through my experience I've been able to develope some core strategies that I'll share.
In no particular rank or order
#1 NEVER read the in-game thread during a game we are losing, after a loss, or even after a win that should have been more impressive
#2 ONLY read the in-game thread when we have a comfortable lead or after a big win.
#3 Put very little stock into updates provided by posters who reference Twitter.
#4 ALWAYS read posts from posters who do a great job rotating beautiful women through their signature pics. There isn't much downside here because what they have to say really doesn't matter.
#5 NEVER feel solid about ANY recruit at ANY time for ANY reason until they are enrolled. (Not even after LOI day)
#6 When you disagree with a posters stance on a topic refrain from posting for awhile. This is because 95% of the time someone with a similar counter stance will post your thoughts for you. Or will at least do a decent job of doing so.
#7 So only post when this doesn't happen, or if you have a unique experience to share that you think others would appreciate.
#8 EDITED to follow rules of the board… Please refrain from naming names! Thanks
#9 Find posters that you tend to agree with and follow their posts. For obvious reasons this creates a better experience. For me, Mickey does a great job of doing this. He also helps accomplish #6 for me. If you want a proper perspective of things he's your guy (in my opinion)
#10 Never miss a topic posted by sg out west. He has a unique way of adding insight in a creative way that often involves a good amount of humor (whether you agree or disagree with the info)
Off the top of my head this is the best I can do, but I'm sure there are more. I want to here from other Lurker's and see if you have anything to add. Please chime in if you do!
I'm also pretty sure someone did something similar to this a few years ago, but unfortunately I forget who it was and I forget all the things they said. If someone remembers this and happened to save it, please post!
