The Penn State Football Story: PSU at Pitt

Thanks for posting. I find it difficult to locate on network TV. A few observations:
- You get different video angles on the game footage. I like that.
- I enjoy the players celebrating each other's success.
- RE: Mark May's comments, wasn't Pitt favored in 2016? Not sure how you call that an upset.
- Whether anybody admits it or not, that's an important win for Franklin.
- Our crowd sounded a lot louder on this video than live TV. Did they do that through editing?
- See you all tomorrow!

Pitt was a 3-4.5 favorite, but you know how putters like to play the poor little us card.

Pitt was a senior-laden team that lost five games that year, something that should have raised the eyebrows of Pitt fans about Narduzzi.

But the wins over Penn State and Clemson kept them happy. Thing to remember about Clemson that year: Tigers were coming off a nation championship game appearance vs. Alabama and figured to be a title contender in ‘16. But they slept walked through the season and SHOUD HAVE sustained that wake up call against NC State in a game played at Clemson. But the NC State kicker missed a chip shot field goal as time ran out, and given the reprieve, Clemson survived in OT. Still didn’t learn its lesson, though, until Pitt — a school it had virtually NO history with - came along.

  • #11 was near the ball all day. Amazing he is a true Fr and inexperienced at MLB
  • The field is a disgrace. I get that it was raining but the field was a mess before the game. It is hard to imagine that Pitt and the Steelers can play their entire season on the field without it being redone.
  • McS had a heck of a game in the rain, both running and passing
  • To Judges point on the facemask on the INT, that was as blatant as it gets. Amazing he caught the ball and amazing that call wan't made.
  • Our WR's are amazing. If #3 gets starts catching something, they will be special. As it stands, 3 is a darn good punt returner both in terms of sure hands AND running it back.
  • Sanders is a powerful back at 20#s less than Barkley. He is never going to be as explosive but his power running is a far step beyond Barkley's.
  • Pitt played a heck of a first half if not for the punter dropping three critical snaps, kudos to them coming out and playing hard even though they were so overmatched
  • seems to me we are still finding ourselves. Sanders is such a different back, we've got at least five really good WR's which can spread the field and create 1 in 1s, our TE's are at least serviceable....with all of that, when Trace better understands all the tools at his disposal, this offense will be really good by the time we play tOSU
  • Defense is a mystery to me. We gave up a ton of yardage against Appy and the first half of Pitt then just shut them down in the second half. It will be interesting to see the Kent game. For those that don't know, Kent was up at the end of the first half and tied after three quarters with Illinois. Kent's QB had 270 yards passing and 117 yards rushing. Ill's QB had 190 passing and 140 rushing. Overall, Kent gave up almost 280 yards rushing. Other than Kent's QB, the RB's didn't do much. So hopefully, PSU will come out and control the LOS against Kent in prep for B1G play.

Have never understood why Heinz doesn't go to turf. Am shocked the NFL allows one of its fields to look like that on television.

As far as a viewing experience - give me a natural surface every game, warts and all....

though artificial surfaces have certainly come a long way since the hideous indoor-outdoor carpets of days-gone-by (eg: the Vet’ / Carrier Dome / Three Rivers et al) they remain sterile and vacuum the personality out of every venue... football is a sport where the players need to be covered with mud, grass stains, and body-fluids ...

next thing you know - we’ll see dopey people paying silly $$$ and hucksters making a paycheck selling tacky fake lawns ;)

Shame on the crew at Heinz if they can’t maintain the surface

I was encouraged by the nice over the shoulder TD catch JJ made in practice at the very end. He beat #21 too!
