I know less than zero about horse racing but I thought this race was the best I've seen since Secretariat's Belmont Stakes. The call was really exciting. This horse looks like it kicked in the afterburners with a hundred yards to go to close a three-length deficit after having to hit the brakes earlier to find a hole and nearly being knocked down.

That was some race and some call by Collmus. Bad beat if you bet that 9
I thought the PGA Championship was awesome as well. You have to like Scottie as a stand-up guy. He faultered, squandered a three-shot lead on the front nine in difficult conditions, then righted himself and went on to win by a considerable margin. Then his baby doesn't wan to go back to Mom so he takes the kid into the scorer's room to sign his card, gives the kid his hat to play with while he makes right with the PGA before taking the trophy.

Journalism got a bad ride. He wanted to stay within 4 lengths of the lead but didn't and then he got boxed in along the rail. Rispoli had no choice but to try and force his way between horses. Journalism lost his stride after getting hip checked by Goal Oriented. Not many horses can come back from that. Journalism is quite a good horse.

here is the video of Scottie entering the scorer's office after his child refused to go back to his wife and wanted to stay with "dad". Pretty funny to anyone who has been a dad and has to get something done for a few minutes. Later, the kid clung to him and screamed when he was finally handed off to mom for the trophy ceremony.

This was pretty impressive. though the time was a little slow. But that's mainly because the best horse was being bottled up. I'm glad that nobody got hurt in this one. The cool thing is that Journalism is by Curlin, who also won the Preakness after looking beaten in the stretch when passed by Derby winner Street Sense. Now, will there be a filly like Rags to Riches running in the Belmont to beat Journalism by a nose? Though this time the Derby winner will probably be there. The Belmont could be a battle for horse of the year between those two.

Next year the Preakness moves down the road to Laurel while they renovate the Preakness area. The Laurel racetrack will then close after that race.

Have a former PSU roommate who does Turfgrass management for stadiums, golf courses and yes- Pimlico.

Preakness is on our list to see- same weekend as PGA Championship @ Aronimink next year.

Laurel would be odd but unique.

Could be a neat doubleheader~

Great race by journalism. My favorite Preakness is still Secretariet. He looked like he was giving the other horses a head start. Last by a lot early in the 1st turn. By the end of the turn he was in 1st. Journalism caught a fading leader down the stretch. Secretariet blew past fresh horses. Watch it on YouTube. It's crazy what he did on the first turn.
