Some of my happiest memories have been around the game of college football - from watching games with my dad -- I vividly remember the moment Flutie to Phelan happened -- to watching dozens upon dozens games at Beaver Stadium, but, I have to say that in a lot of ways the game of football is a miserable and brutish exercise. This article explains why.

Thanks for posting. I feel the exact same way.

perhaps it is age. On one hand, football is still a path to an education for many, who might not otherwise be possible. And this stands for players and other associated kids who glom onto that revenue. On the other hand, I hate the physical damage to the kids. It is voluntary, and nobody is forcing them. I had hope that colleges and the NCAA would control it for the greater good. Well, no such luck.

In the end, it is the free market having its way.
