The TRUTH About Why Penn State Gets Transfers

This is why I disagree with those who want to stick with our roster as is.

There are a lot of kids who want to train under Cael; only a few are lucky enough to get recruited right out of HS. If a kid like Bernie sees an opportunity to transfer in and make the line-up, and Cael thinks he's good enough, why not give him that chance?

At the end of the day Cael's primary job is to build the Penn State wrestling program into the best program he possibly can. To ignore the transfer portal would be professionally irresponsible. Fans have no responsibilities associated with the team/program to worry about, so it is easy for a few to think recruiting the portal is unnecessary.

People need to stop thinking wrestling is above and beyond other sports Look at football and basketball , if the Alabama starting QB that won 2 championships, wants to transfer to your team , and replace a 2 year starter , you take them , in a heart beat.

Cael sees this , thus fans should too. Wrestling isn’t mightier than those sports

What people or poster takes are indicative of this?

I don't see many, if any, of the people I don't have on ignore.
It’s said over and over
Don’t bring in so and so , we have someone already If some one can go 4-2 at nationals vs 0-2 , you bring them in period

That’s BBall and Football , everyday

Wrestling is most definitely mightier than basketball. (I do get your point but I'm being a dick.)

Yeah, with a kid like Mesenbrink, he’s looking towards freestyle, worlds, and eventually the Olympics when coming to State College anyway. If he competes for a spot on the NCAA team but misses because he can’t beat Levi or Facundo in a challenge match in folkstyle, so be it. If he has world class training partners like Zain & Nolf to work on freestyle with him, I’m sure he’s just as happy to do that.

I am sure Cael tells kids you gotta earn the starting position no matter who we have!

Just look how many NLWC guys have just entered the Open… I believe it’s 10 guys (3 are NCAA guys) and then you have Gilman, Dake, Taylor, and Snyder (auto USA finalists) in the room and then the rest of the NCAA team. There is no place in the world with that kind of talent to train with and that’s what it’s all about with kids. Cael and his staff know how to train guys to the max. Very rarely does a guy not peak when it matters. That’s not the same elsewhere.
