The very long road back for ISU

Losses to Drexel and now Rider; ouch! Still think Dresser will have ISU back in the top 10 in a couple years.
The state of Iowa is better off when ISU and UNI are competitive in wrestling. With 4 Hawkeyes leading the charge in Ames they will be back soon. I miss the rivarly. Honestly
Don't be sorry. It is going to take some time. I expect a top ten finish in 3-4 years. This is not a good team in any way,shape or form, but there is some talent in the pipeline and a huge piece on the way in Mr. Carr.

They have only at this time 2 good ones and have about
5-6 guys starting that would have a hard time to make the line up at Wartberg or Grandview..Maybe in 10 years they can make top 10.

Gonna be a lot faster than you think. Just look at what Dresser did at Va Tech after Brands left the cupboard bare.
I agree it will be a good bit faster than 10 years but a quick look shows that VT didn't make the top 10 until Dresser's 7th year there. Of course, that was at a school with little to no wrestling success in the past, unlike ISU. I would guess ISU would be top 10 or at least close in Dresser's 4th or 5th year. Could be earlier if they hit on several blue chip recruits that work out. David Carr should be a very good start.
Austin Gomez is a name you will know and will be competing next year. Carr will redshirt, but the following year Gomez.Storr, and Carr will be scoring points. Need 1 or 2 more studs with them to enter the top 10. I will be surprised if it takes more than 4 years to see a top 10 finish. Moving into that top 4-5 could take forever or may never happen.
JW - what in your opinion is ISU unable to overcome to get into top 4-5? Outside of not being in a recruiting hotbed, it would appear that Admin commitment, coaching, facilities, etc are there.
Iowa is not producing much as far as blue chip recruits at the high school level. PA and Ohio talent are much harder to lure away with the power house programs at PSU and tOSU. Smith is a recruiting beast at Okie St. and can flat out coach. ASU has emerged and will be a top 5 imo, Michigan is eventually going to do something with all of the talent they land. Mizzu, Iowa,Nebraska,Cornell,V-Tech,Minn,Lehigh, and even UNI have solid leads in pipeline talent at this point. Uphill climb to top 10, but I think it will happen. Many things will have to fall our way for a top five.
Agree, I don't see this as that long of a road back. Dresser just needs to recruit well and history has proven that he will.

Minnahawkeye's post has the flavor of false bravado. He knows that ISU is getting better. In a few years they'll be finishing on a par with Iowa. Neither will be challenging Cael's Boys and tOSU.
