The fact that Sandy has to fire both basketball coaches does present an interesting wrinkle.
If I were in her position I would fire Chambers this year but defer the decision on Washington until next year. Washington has at least won the Big Ten a few times.

Washington tried to leave years ago and we extended her instead..She has brought this program to its knees..Let her go now, hasn’t done much for years.
I don't really understand what happened with her. She seemed initially to be pretty good.
She had a team with 4 players who went to the WNBA during her winning phase, plus she had a really strong assistant. After the assistant left, things went downhill.
Coquese’s contract is up this year, and she’s coaching without an extension. If only one coach goes, odds are it’s her, not Pat.
Normally yeah but Coquese did not shove a player on national TV while in the process of winning zero games in conference
IMO, the push can be used as an excuse to let him go or reduce any buyout if they want to, but wouldn’t be the real reason he was fired. If it was that egregious, there would have been more than a one game suspension.
If Barbour does what you suggest, she's dumber than I think she is. Ordinarily, I wouldn't think that possible.
Agree, it would not be the main reason. But imagine your own job. Let’s say you keep doing a bad job and then you push someone.

Cocheese ruined the program after the Maggie Lucas era this team is pathetic. Cocheese had 4 McDonald s on her team at one time and couldn't win. She needs to go I find her arrogant and has really hurt the program. Question is had Sandy Fired any coach to date? Both programs need an enama in basketball. Horrible to watch. Hopefully these student athletes take advantage of their education opportunity.
The only coaches who have been let go were WGym as there was abusive culture there and the WHockey which was also so weird situation there as well. So she has not actually fired anyone based on performance.
With Pat creating bad publicity, and not winning at all, it seems like he is pretty much done either way.
Jeff Thompson was fired mid-season as women's gymnastics coach and Josh Brandwene disappeared mid-season for women's ice hockey due to "family medical issues," to subsequently "resign" shortly after the season ended. Both Thompson (and his assistant wife) and Brandwene had been accused of student-athlete abuse in the prior season. The dismissals occurred in the winter of 2016 during Sandy's tenure.
If Chambers is dismissed at season's end, "The Push" won't have anything to do with it. Barbour's decision to suspend Chambers one game was more about optics than actual discipline. If Chambers was 6-2 in the B1G at this point, do you think his job would be in jeopardy due to "The Push?"
