So I just saw a headline that read China imposes an additional 34% tariff on the US. My initial reaction was no big deal they don't allow us in their anyway. Then as i read the article I saw additionally they will curtail shipments of a list of rare earth minerals and they added 11 entities to their "unreliable entities" list which allows them to take action against these companies. These are examples
of the non tariff trade barriers Trump talks about and how beholden we are becoming on other countries.
On one hand this could make for some additional short term pain, on the the other hand this is EXACTLY why we need to bring key manufacturing back to the US. If I were Trump I would make a big deal about these curtailed shipments and "unreliable entities".
