Okay, I know this has been covered before but it’s always a kind of fun topic and an opportunity to “admit” that as normal as you think you are, you have some superstitions when it comes to watching Penn State Football, superstitions that make absolutely no sense (or maybe some sense) but you follow no matter what. We have a lot of new posters and, frankly, when folks fess up, it makes the rest of us feel “not so odd” LOL. So here’s mine, and I have a few of them

First, I have to wear a blue or white t-shirt under my jersey that matches whether we’re home or away. If they lose, that t-shirt isn’t worn anymore during games

Oh, if that was the only one. Obviously, it’s got to be a home or away jersey to match the players as well. If they start playing poorly, the jersey or the t-shirt or sometimes both have to go for another option.

I wear a blue hat for home games and a white hat for away games… but if we’re not doing well, I switch hats. If we’re really doing poorly, the hat usually winds up on the floor (gently, of course haha)

Now it’s going to get a little weirder…I cross my legs one way until things start going bad, and then I switch. If it’s absolutely awful (i.e. Temple), I don’t cross my legs at all. Yea, I’ve thought about therapy for this but I figure it’s only for 12 weeks or so every fall so since I’m otherwise well-adjusted, at least in my own opinion, I’ve passed on the counseling… for now.

Ah, like any of the above behaviors have any credible impact on games, I also have the even number of beers rule. If I drink 1, I have to have another. If 3, then the 4th is a must- otherwise Penn State loses. This results in some pretty bad hangovers but hell, its the price to pay for being a true fan, right?

Yes, all of these superstitions have been disproven over and over again yet I still honor them every Saturday in the fall… so what are yours? Please share, it’s kind of fun and, even better, funny, and, the biggest benefit is that you find out you’re not the only one who reacts irrationally in the fall—guys, please post because I need to “prove” to my wife I’m not the only nut, er I mean, intense fan, out there haha.
