This Week in PSU Wrestling Video -- Cutch

I really enjoy this weekly segment. The wrestlers are very insightful as to the steps they need to take to improve, no doubt a quality Cael looks for while recruiting.
Matt has made such strides this season, it's incredible. I think everyone here is hoping he can stay healthy so he can make a deep run at Big 10's and Nationals. After all, Bo said Matt was better than Gabe Dean and, while I'm not there yet, I'm starting to become the slightest bit a believer.

What I love about Cael's approach is that its all about the process and focusing on getting better. Every single wrestler who does one of these videos is all about the team and all about improvement. None of them ever give you even a glimmer of satisfaction with where they are and are always focusing on what need to be done better next time. Love the focus. Love the philosophy. Love Cael's coaching approach.

"The Pennsylvania Wrestling Style" - the best defense is a super-solid offense that is not just frenetic for the sake of being frenetic, but rather is efficient in the "quality" of the constant offense because this keeps the opponent focused on defense to "parry" your quality offense never letting them do anything but be "reactive". It is a bit like a swordsman who understands that it is imperative that you never let your opponent "gain the initiative", rather it is imperative that you relentlessly beat your opponent down with quality attacks until they wilt under the pressure and eventually "give in" (e.g., break their will by enforcing your will upon them). No doubt that Cael, who always wrestled this "style" and who expressed great admiration for Pennsylvania's "wrestling tradition" in this regard when he came to PSU, has done an incredible job at branding this style onto The Pennsylvania State University since his arrival in winning 4 of the 6 Team NCAA Titles since arriving in 2009-2010 Season.
