After the first week of the recruting season I wanted to share with you an overall perspective for what I have seen and gathered from the first week. Obviously, this can all change with different circumstances, but here is what I see.

As far as the 2017 class it is going to be small. Right now, Chambers and staff do not have a ton of flexibility to be recruting a ton in 2017. Again, all can change with someone transferring. As I have said in the past, the 2017 class as a whole is a down class, especially in the Mid-Atlantic region. Really, there are only, in my opinion, 3-4 guards worth a look in the region, none of which have "high" interest in PSU, which is fine. We got have top PG in the Mid-Atlantic in 2016.

While I do believe Chambers will monitor, evaluate, and show some interest in the 2017 class for the right big man or wing, I believe most of the efforts of this recruting season will be heavily focused on the 2018 class monitoring, contacting and even offering. Right now, we have offered 4-5 players in the 2018 class already. Obviously, timing and formulating relationships with the 2018 prospects are important. The 2018 class is very strong, even in the Mid-Atlantic region. So, that is the class to go all out for, in my opinion.

If you were to take a big class, which Chambers did in 2016 it was the class to do it knowing that the 2017 class was a little weaker and small in talent, good move in my estimation. Very good future planning by Chambers and staff.

If we take anyone in 2017, it will either be a big, wing, or a transfer that comes up, which really none have been worth it yet.

The 2016 class play will be very important to the 2018 recruting with overall team success.

Have at it.
