Football Three PSU players ranked in PFF's top 100 NFL Draft prospects

ummm there is no way Will Levis is the #3 draft prospect
Watching some of the games this weekend, and catching some of the highlights and box scores, seems like there are quite a few QBs for top 20 teams that may give the pro folks something to consider. I'm glad our defense seemed to come alive at all levels this weekend, but what I saw with the QBs and their receivers only emphasized what we're missing in the passing game.

Agreed. The main difference lately between PSU and OSU and Michigan is PSU's lack of a difference making QB and, at least this year. a game breaking receiver. Others will say that PSU is not as good as these 2 teams up front on both sides of the ball and there is merit to that. However, PSU had more rushing and passing yards than OSU so that wasn't the problem--the problem was 4 turnovers by Sean Clifford.

Michigan outplayed us on the lines and relied on 2 RBs. McCarthy played a good game, but he didn't do anything that separated them from us nor did their WRs. We probably gave their QB and WRs too much respect and didn't stack the box like we should have. I'd have been much happier losing that way, say McCarthy throws big and scrambles for a lot, than laying back in spacious coverage with poor alignment vs the run.

We played Michigan like we thought we could run on them and that they were going to pass a lot. A true miscalculation on our staff as a whole.

OSU does have the talent advantage, particularly at QB and WR, but Clifford cost us with his throws so completely agree there.

I would add that some had speculated what a few other underclassmen would do but you only see 3 PSU players on this list. Oddly enough that's the same as northwestern.

I believe that J Brown will be drafted by round 3 as well. Safety is not a position for high rounders but he can really play and seems athletic and physical. He is all over the place

I do not see P. Washington in the top 100. Love his hands and his shiftiness but not in top 100.

J Brown may be more believable as he will test very well.

Hmm, Porter, Fashanu, and Washington (late) 2nd round. High enough for all to go or do they bet on themselves for 1st round money in 2023?
I recall Franklin saying players should leave if projected in the 1st 2 rounds. Allar is going to need some new WRs if he loses both Tinsley and Washington.

This is where I temper my enthusiasm about our young talent. It only goes so far if you have gaps at key positions.

Here's how I see it. This was a list by PFF and they grade each snap. Washington is a very good performer but maybe doesn't have the measurables scouts salivate over. But he does his job and makes some special plays. His numbers this year aren't going to be good enough to overcome unexciting measurables.

That's why I think he comes back. He needs 1200+ yards next year to have scouts overlook his his short stature and mediocre 40 time. Cliff couldn't give it to him but being the clear-cut #1 WR for Allar just might do it.

I'm not sure why anyone would think UM would be likely to pass a lot. They are who they are, but they happen to be very good at it and have a Heisman candidate RB. I was surprised they passed at all after the first couple of drives, I think they could have run the ball on 100% of the plays and I'm not sure we'd have stopped them.

I'm there with you. Hindsight is 20/20,but I'd have played everything tight and in the box. If JJ can beat me, have at it. If Corum can beat 8 and 9 men for 60 yards, he's the man.

Sitting back off their WRs like they had 2 Harrison Jr's out there was crazy.

Have Porter and Fashanu played their last games as Nittany Lions?

Don't like to see guys bailing out from their teams and teammates early based on draft speculation.

Washington is a slot receiver and will be drafted because he is special after the catch, good hands and good in short area quickness. I don't see 3rd round though. Just cannot beat man coverage by an nfl corner down the field. We'll see what he runs. Doesn't hurt us because Clifford just doesn't throw accurate deep balls anyway.

It stings that the number 3 pick sat on the bench at PSU behind erratic Clifford.

Washington would benefit greatly on the Dotson '21 off season plan. Shave some time off the 40. Allar will be throwing better deep balls next year. His improvements from spring to fall was huge. Another 9 months? With sophomore RB studs? Come back.

Parker is built to take abuse and tough. I really like him and would like him back. He and the tight ends would help Allar get acclimated until the young guys get it together.

Yep. No doubt that PSU will need Washington as the leader of the WR corps for 2023. It could be a free-for-all at WR for PSU without Washington as the leader in 2023. He is clearly the leader this season even though it looked like Tinsley, with all his previous success and supposed down field ability, would likely come in and have a big year for PSU.

WR depth has been a weakness this season and Allar really needs some dependable targets in 2023. Even with Washington the 2023 WR starters are a question mark.

But if Washington is really projected as a 2nd/3rd round pick it will be difficult for him to turn down the NFL.....

Good point about the running backs. They should be explosive next year. Which will force defense to play the run and open the field for Allar and the receivers. If PW returns it will one crazy fun offense to watch.

I think the talent shines through next year in the WR room. KLS looks like he's about to make that big jump, if he can stay healthy. HW3 is a very solid guy, mix of size and not slow. Could be that 50/50 type. Liam looks like he could be the Washington type of possession guy. Evans and Saunders will be the speedsters with another year of being actual WRs under their belt. I think current committ Carmelo Taylor will push for snaps if he enrolls early. And somebody from the redshirt crew could step up.

Line play. 5* Allar. The returning TEs. The backs. It's a lot to get excited over.
