Former PSU Olineman, Tim Freeman, is on CNBC right now - he apparently works on Wall Street. Also, it was mentioned that his son, who is in 8th grade, is one of the top quarterbacks in the nation at his age - although Freeman was downplaying the notion that kids that age could be ranked.

Another shocking example of the win at all cost culture promulgated by Joseph V. Paterno.

I was in a strength training class with him and a few of us would ask him questions about what it was like playing for Joe, that type of thing. Seemed like a nice guy and very humble.

He is a nice guy, but he's not humble. And I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing and don't mean it as an insult. He's done very well.

He's grooming his kid to go to Stanford. His son is a legit athlete.

As he should. The goal of every parent should be to push your kid up the ladder. If you went to PSU, it is perfectly good parenting to want your
Kid to go to Stanford or Harvard. If they go to PSU that's fine, but Stanford is a top five school. Any kid that goes there is fine by me.

Not so sure that is always true for the child of someone who has achieved that level of financial success, especially in an environment as stressful and competitive as Wall Street. Not every kid can, or should try to, better their parents financially or academically. Not every kid is cut out for Wall Street, big business, the Ivy League schools or their equivalent. Perhaps you should amend your statement to something like, the goal of every parent should be to raise happy and healthy children who make good use of their abilities, whatever they might be.
