Was at PSU this weekend for the first time in 43 years. Have lived all around the country and recently moved back to the Philly area.
Walking around the campus was such a flood of memories. Somehow the campus and the buildings seemed smaller than I remember, especially Shields Building. Lots of new buildings and not as much green space. Pegula Ice Arena and the Intramural Building were quite impressive. Creamery is new and improved, but the lines are much longer, even when it's 28 degrees out. Smaller elms on the mall due to being replaced, but still plenty of friendly fat squirrels. Better bus stops, although all I did was walk around. Rec hall was a little updated, and there are far more team pictures around the arena. Still found the ones I was in, although there are far more that are newer.
It's truly amazing how each building and street brings back things that I had let drift into the foggy past, but come back in stark detail just by being present. Thon at the BJC, the HUB ballroom where I participated is so much smaller.
Did drive around town as well. Lived in a fraternity, and the area around the houses around Hamilton is really unchanged. Many more memories there as well.
Thanks for letting me ramble on. Hope to have the opportunity to get back for many more events.
