I saw some great wrestling all weekend long. It is always with mixed emotions when you get to see dreams come true and dreams crushed all at the same time. The conversations with wrestling fans from all over were amazing, and there were so many consistent themes throughout the event.

Frank the tank was an uplifting story, but seeing Brent's dreams crushed could make the hardest old wrestling fan tear up. I admit to crying while watching the interview later. Heart breaking really. I believe Mr. Metcalf will go far as a coach someday. Great guy.

Varner losing last night sucked for me personally, as he was the best wrestler on our last really good ISU team, and a great guy as well. Snyder is just really special.

Cox is a huge man and quicker than all get out. I think he has a real chanced to medal? Am I crazy?

Ramos losing sucked for me as well, and the post match interview was strange to say the least. I hope he finds peace and continues to train toward his goal. He needs a top game and a more varied attack on his feet imo.

Zain looked very tough, and he had Streebler on the ropes- blood time really hurt him as Zain is in such great shape. Pico vs Zain would be much closer today than the previous meetings imo.

Jordan is Jordan. The man is so good we sometimes forget how lucky we are to be watching him in his prime. He makes this look easy.

The athletes as a whole were so very gracious toward the fans all weekend. Many stayed around and signed stuff right after matches. Great spirit.

Sorry for the jumbled typing. No sleep+much booze+too much emotion= bat sh_t crazy old wrestling fan. I bid you good day as I say good night.

JP, when you rest up, please post more post tourney thoughts and news.

Sorry, but given the title of the thread, I've just gotta do it:

I am alive and now need to mow. I can't shake the whole Tony Ramos thing. It doesn't make me happy. I love that young man and so does the state of Iowa. Enough on that topic from me for now.

Nashon is going to be a terror once he figures out a few tactics to go with his explosive skill set.

Dake acts like a 3 year old and I really don't like his act. He is an incredible talent.

Herbert will be missed. Funny guy and a good sport to boot.

Nico is going to be very good, but really probably needs a little more muscle. His skills are there and he would have beaten Nato but wore down a little.

Dan Dennis is quite the story and you have to feel great for this guy.

Ringer is somewhat like Nashon- needs some tactics but the talent is there.

I think Zain should go try and qualify the weight for Tank at the second tournament if Frank doesn't get it done at the first one. He is vested with Frank and would fight like hell to get his mentor a spot in Rio.

Talked to Cody Sanderson and I remember why we loved him. Great human being.

I read somewhere that the only person permitted to try to qualify at these last 2 meets was the Olympic qualifier.

Not sure if this is true or not.

I understand it that Frank would get first shot which I'm sure he will take, but if he lets someone else go anyone can do it. I'm just thinking that if Frank should fail to qualify it at the first attempt maybe Zain should get a go for the one a week later. I have a vision of Zain going beast mode to help his mentor get the opportunity. It would also be huge experience for Zain. The first priority is whatever Frank wants, but it is asking alot to compete in back to back weekends. Just a crazy guys thoughts.

Looking at the USA Team Selection Criteria, I don't think it is Frank's choice. Unless he's physically unable, disqualified or otherwise removed, the winner of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials is the one that has to qualify the weight.
