Some of you old-timers might recall my plight with the 1895 farmhouse next door to me that was purchased in 2006 by some shitheads who, instead of living in it - decided to use it as a business-property and offered it as a multi-unit B&B (w/o owners residing on site), rented it out for parties, weddings, family reunions, meetings etc... (Contrary to town code/zoning as single-family large-lot residential).

Years of anguish kicking a complacent code-enforcement office and Zoning Board of Appeals efforts and defeating my opponents lawsuit against the town ... Exposing mortgage and property tax fraud, town code amendments to abolish short-term rentals in LL-1 zoned areas... Receipt of Physical threats... You name it

2yrs of the property languishing through pre-foreclosure ( i had to mow their lawn 2x in the last month)

well, goddammi, I WON

Introduced myself to the new owner this evening as he was examining the property with his agent, just after he closed on the property... Family with four kids... Wife in dental school... Enjoying a glass of wine with my wife tonight

Stuck to the high road and I persevered...

Couple of you had provided some good advice back then, just want to share my good news as hopefully that book has been closed! So much has changed since the battle began, i have a dog, my kids are now teenagers with hairy armpits, my bulletin board has been ruined, but alas life is good

Glad to hear it worked out, sounds like an awful ordeal. We had to get the zoning board in on an attempt by a neighbor to turn his barn into a concert venue, but we were able to resolve it quickly as they gave in quickly. Would've hated to have to fight as long as you did. Sounds like you can finally relax.

That is terrific. Even though few of us on this Board actually know each other personally, it seems like we do and so there is a vicarious sharing of joy, sorrows, and, in this case a triumph. Congrats!

Don't want to sidetrack this too much (congrats to MM II and his success -- I recall some old posts that showed part of his yard -- looked like a great spot)...but to wbcincy, how did your Outer Banks trip work out? Travel issues? Enjoy the area?

Always love to hear the stories when the good guys prevail. Sorry it took far too long for you, but here's to you and yours gaining back that lost 'energy' and more in very positive ways.
Happy for you, too Cincy!

Congrats car guy. Bad neighbors can make for a miserable home life. Sounds like you got some good new neighbors.

It's been awesome, still here, leave tomorrow. Took the southern route, while it took 13 hours, we never hit any traffic. I'll post more in that obx thread upon my return, thanks for asking.

Well done, MM! Perseverance really is required in those instances, and few folks are willing to put up with all the aggravation. Good luck with the new owner. Oh, and tell those daughters to shave their armpits. ;)

I remember you saying you were going to inject some personal male body fluids into their coffee as a replacement for "cream". I guess you can keep your body fluids to yourself now.

HAHAHAHA.... I believe that was a reply I'd made when someone (perhaps you) suggested I go over and have a cup of coffee with the guy... stale/obtuse references make this board fun :)
