Top 10 remaining recruits

Why did you pick 10 then do it by position? and is it a top 10 or need based? I don't get it...
Here's my top ten based on talent first, need second, likelyhood third. (to be clear though I think we'll get more than 10 more recruits)
1. Gary
2. Menet
3. Dioubate
4. Panasuik
5. Betiku
6. Ferns
7. Pryts
8. Hamlin
9. Ball
10. Nixon/Diggs/Fuller
I prepared my list by combining talent level, positions of need, and prospects with a genuine interest in PSU. For example, we need OL, DT, and LB so 6 of my 10 are highly rated prospects at those positions and they all have strong interest in PSU. I listed 3 DBs but I only think we need 1. I didn't list any RBs or WRs because I think we're all set at those positions. We could use another QB but I'm not aware of any top talent with strong PSU interest.
I look at it like you are. I don't even care what db's and wr's we get now. I'm sure they will be decent. We need difference makers on both lines. Really need to get the Pa. kids. Menet and Dioubate. Only way to get Gary will prob be go 10-2 and beat Michigan. If we do that, I'll bet he's listening. If Harbaugh comes in and they do better than us his first year, gonna be a hard sell on him. Hope Lavar helps us out with Betiku. Gonna be hard to get him out of LA now. Damn, NFL Network. Has Ron Johnson - DE boat sailed?
I think so on Johnson but I think 10-2 gets us back in on everyone... but seems like him and Hawkins want to play together and it will be at UM or for the Gamecocks(who are doing a good job in the mid atlantic in 2016)
PS. so far Menet is the only high schooler in the country to hold his own with Gary. He is a huge get and will be an all Big Ten player in just a few years.
Comments:
- I would put the over/under for 2016 class size at about 21, or 13 additional players.
- We really need at least 3 DT's (2 freshman and 1 JC, or 3 freshman) and the staff is actively recruiting a number of DE's. So I think we will likely see at least 4 DL's, and possibly 2 more DE's at the expense of 2nd TE.
- The staff wants (1) WR in this class, and has been selectively recruiting a couple pretty hard. I would add Smothers to 199's list of candidates.
- I agree on Ferns and Hudson, but Hudson may play Safety or RB. He has nice position flexibility.....
- With a class in the low 20's, we may see 2 more DB"s. I don't think we need them, but the staff is going after top talent at CB and Safety.
- CJF repeatedly states the out of balance number at QB, and I think he will bring in another QB in the 2016 class. It could be a late offer after the 2015 H.S. season gets under way, or a flip. Hack is likely gone after 2015 and CJF really wants 5 QB's on the roster, but another in the 2016 class would still give him only 4 for 2016.
Don't know. I would think everyday he doesn't make a decision is better for them. He could also be waiting to see if he gets in Schreyer (total speculation there). I'm not really sure. At first when we were his final 2 I felt awesome about it...the longer it goes on though...
Every single recruit has their own timeline of when they'll make a decision, or announce a decision.
If Menet wants to take another day, another week, another month, or another 6 months to announce his plans, that's his right.
At the end of the process, I don't think think the timeline that Menet followed will have any impact on his decision.
I just think that they've put the full-court press on an in-state kid, and he's still thinking about it. Not saying we won't get him, but it's clear to me that Duke is a very serious contender for his services.
Wouldn't say it's worse for us, just better for Duke since we are the perceived in-state favorite.

Didn't realize this, but apparently Hunter Johnson -- the No. 1 QB in the Class of 2017 -- is hoping to announce before his junior season gets underway. Fingers crossed.
I think the class will be more towards 23-25.. but that's just my opinion.
If we don't take another QB in this class (I don't see the need for another one since JZ is a pretty good QB), then im hoping we get Hunter next year. He will be an absolute stud. Praying he picks us!!!!

From what I hear he's been all Penn State for awhile. He just wants to be 100% sure and follow his timeline of committing before the season. I'm as anxious as everyone but patience grasshopper.
