Top Guys and Back Points

Cenzo Joseph was hurt considerably this year by yielding back points. Cenzo has lost 8 matches in his career and gave up big back points in 4 of those. (Subjeck, Marinelli twice, and Lewis)

Bo lost 3 times giving up 4-pointers in 2 (Jackson and Martin). David Taylor lost 3 and was pinned once (Jenkins).

Among the other recent PSU greats, Ruth, Retherford, Nolf, and Hall, there were a total of 14 losses and I don't recall any of them giving up back points.

Am I forgetting any?

Who pinned Q in college? I think your memory is off on this one. Q only lost a handful of matches in college and none were by pin.

Don't know if he was pinned but he took quite a few losses, probably over 20 in his career

Just to add it was his sophomore year I was thinking when he was something like 11th seed and won it all. Took several losses during the dual season

Ruth definitely gave up back points to the kid from Stanford

Retherford was tilted at Big Tens by Stieber.
I think Amuchastegi from Stanford got some on Ruth.

I don’t think Jason ever gave up any back points. The closest, I think, was one swipe when the kid from Eastern Michigan headlocked him at Keystone Classic. He slipped out of it for a reversal, and went on to pin the kid.

Rutt was in Rec Hall, I believe. Defensive pin. Q was riding or had just got a TD, was draped too far over Rutt’s head and pinned himself, more or less.

I still remember that match and thinking WTF!?!? then I was like ah within 2 minutes

Fun Fact: Bo Pipher pinned that same kid at the Scuffle this year
