Yep, we’re catching up. We need generational players

Not sure where you are looking but Rivals has them at ten. Just landed the #3 QB today

I think the big ten should do more to help OSU. They weren't even the one seed in the playoffs this year.

Let's face it, the schools like Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama, LSU, and Oklahoma, to name but a handful, play by different rules. They pay their players under the table, require no classroom attendance, and operate football factories for the greater good of the NCAA. Penn State doesn't play by those rules, so a top 10 finish is actually miraculous.

And yet posters want to fire coaches when we lose a game.

With 2 top QB's in this class, I do hope 2021 QB commit Kyle McCord of St. Joe's Prep enjoys holding a clipboard for his time in Columbus. Maybe he gets 1 year as a starter, or portals to another destination.

This type of denial and blame is what makes college football so special.

Kyle McCord = LSUs starting QB in 2024

We play in a conference with an absolute juggernaut. There are only 2-3 other schools in the country that recruits at this level every year. Comparing us to tOSU is fruitless.

Franklin has us rolling. We are recruiting at a level every year now that we haven’t seen in decades. We have won 10 games 3/4 years. We are playing in big time bowls almost every year. We are close to turning the corner. It doesn’t happen overnight.

I,m not being farcical or rude, ---but is this actually the case? And how do they get away with it?

It’s just something people use as an excuse to feel better than schools that are better than us at football.

In all likelihood every program is paying players. Yes, even us. If it’s pervasive in college athletics we are not the exception. Nobody is. Except maybe Pitt. That would explain their ineptitude.

Where is the denial you speak of in his post?

That all the successful schools are only better than Penn State because they operate under different rules. Penn State has absolutely no moral code that prohibits them from beating Ohio State. Your academics aren't more important and you are in no way shape or form any less of a football factory. The only difference is that you're not as good.

Let's see if Ryan Day stands the test of time. He did a very good job this year, but was set up by Urban Meyer's leadership and recruiting from previous years.

If we recall, Larry Coker inherited a juggernaut at the "U" and started with some dominant teams, but lost control of the program. His progression was:

12-0
12-1
11-2
9-3
9-3
7-6

They do it with cash. They buy cars in family member names. They give out prepaid visa cards. They hand out prepaid phones. They have gotten really good at it. Do yourself a favor....google Alabama football players new cars. See what you come up with. No doubt a ton of schools are paying kids at most P5 schools including PSU, but some schools have taken it to the next level. Do you really think Chase Young paid anyone back? If he did, you think he went out and got a job and saved up 5k while going to college as a full time 1a football player. I just wish the PSU fans who cry the loudest would step up and bust out their $$$$'s instead of crying like little b!tches.

So O$U players don't get paid? Explain Chase Young.

So O$U cares about academics? Explain Andy Katzenmoyer.

I don’t know what we Penn Staters are complaining about. When chase young was reinstated, early and in time for the two toughest games on the schedule, gene smith cited Tosu’s culture of compliance. What’s the issue?

Depending on the loss and the opponent.

The OP referenced Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama, LSU, and Oklahoma, all worthy opponents. Beat them, great. Lose to them, bummer. Don’t get to play them bc choked in big games in creative ways or gave an unearned W to MN, MSU or Pitt, different discussion. Not calling for anyone’s firing but not all losses are created equal.

No facts. Just excuses. That way when you lose you can justify it. " I lost because....uhhhhh they cheat"
Teacher looks at you
"Your proof Brucey?".........
You think for a moment, thinking. Sweat beading on your brow.
" I lost, mommy said I'm the best".

He didn't exactly word this response in the best way, but overall he does have a point.

Penn State is the most competitive team in the Big 10 for Ohio State. They're a notch below blue blood and elite status and are right on the brink of being a contender, but your real ace up the sleeve is that as soon as you lose you pull the...

We care too much about academics!

You aren't Harvard, you aren't Stanford. You are so very similar to Ohio State in every single aspect as a University, you just aren't quite as good at football. I'd say that the sooner you accept that the better off you'll be, but it is quite clear that this fanbase loves to pretend they are the "little guy" victim.

Where to start?

1. Classroom attendance- Funny how Bama and Clemson have grad rates similar to PSU and Oklahoma and LSU aren't too bad.

2. Pay players- of course, you have proof of this.

3. "greater good of the NCAA"- you're going to have to enlighten me on that one. Can't wait.

So you're comparing Stanford football to the rest of Stanford academically? You might want to rethink that one, jack.

Still waiting for your response.

I can not imagine what kind of loser one would have to be to go to someone else’s board to tell them how similar they are to her favoritest team in the world. It’s signing day. Go enjoy your success with like minded cultists. We don’t pay players. We never will. If it’s no big deal to pay players and you can live with it why does it bother you so much that another school refuses to do it? We don’t let our kids take fake classes. Why does it bother you so much that our school refuses to do it? Go back with the other “real Buckeyes” and jerk one another off about how awesome you all are. No one cares here.
