Watching the game a second time and concentrating on Paris Palmer play, he is still getting beat bad on pass plays . If Hackenberg is still here he would have been getting killed, but Trace is able to escape and make miracle throws at times, or run away from sacks.

Yep....the difference is a mobile QB versus an immobile QB. Hack needs a good line, he didn't have that here (nor does Trace). He is the better QB for where we are and in this system. We also now run a zone/read. Frankly, it is a totally different offense.

While all of this is true for the most part, I think it is obvious that Trace is the better college football quarterback, regardless of the type of offense that is run. Spread, pro style, triple option/wishbone, you name it. And in my opinion, it's not close.

81, I posted this yesterday; my 17-year old said on the last drive that o$'s offense is confused by what we are giving them defensively. He said look at Barrett's eyes. The TV zooms in a little later and, yes, Barrett looked like he wanted to scratch where it didn't itch.

Its a good point. I don't think tOSU was prepared for a defense that would stop their running game. I don't think they anticipated a) the impact of getting Bell and Cabinda back and b) the stout D-line and depth (to judge's point). tOSU's passing game hasn't been good all year. They don't have a good WR and Barrett is not a great passer. But they threw the ball 48 times in awful weather....tells you something. Also, they didn't use Samuel on running plays very much. a lot of angst in buckeye land on this.

Good points.... PSU gave Michie and the rest a blue print how to beat OSU. Stack the dline and roll up the corners and make Barrett beat you consistently over the top. Until he show's he can throw the deep ball accurately and consistently, OSU is going to have a tough time against better teams.

In an RPO offense, Trace or any other Q doesn't have to be flashy or the best athlete. Make good decisions and secure the ball. When running as the Q, I doubt Moorehead is looking for tons of yardage or steamrolling anyone. Get yards, keep D honest and come back to take another snap.

Saturday was the first full game I watched, along with two other partials (due to HS coaching schedule). I like watching the offense because your never certain who or where the ball is going.

And, yes, Cabinda and Bell made a huge difference. As long as grades don't get effected, Sickels can skip a couple of more classes based on his performance.
