I had this idea, that it'd be fun to compile a list of certain moves we see move from psu wrestler to wrestler over recent times. I'm not trying to scout for the opposition or anything, but thought it'd be sweet to make a list of the major ones, and compile some gif examples or something (if my squirrel-distracted attention span comes though after we make the list, anyway).

Some examples (though I invite all you technicians to correct my novice nomenclature):
  • Bow & Arrow (From s'Mac through the train, to Bo against MyMar)
  • Underhook-to-knee-pick thingy: All of Q's TDs on Kilgore, Bo often, Nevills some.
  • Far Ankle Scramble (see anyone)
  • Maybe this is too base a move, but Ankle Pick kinda needs mentioning.
I don't want to take them all--what others should be on a master list? Or is this a dumb idea?

Nolf winn Dixie. Btw, where did that name come from?

This is a very interesting discussion, and one I have had with many fellow wrestling nuts. The far ankle stuff for sure PSU must work on extensively, as to a man they are so sound there. The thing I notice is the chain wrestling in general- PSU guys are very good in re shot situations and seem to win scrambles by simply refusing to quit the scramble. This is an area where the dreaded development word is hard not to use. Cael (Casey/Cody/Jake/the towel boy) or some unknown person is doing one heck of a job teaching guys how to score when most other teams are accepting stalemates. This is being taught and is creating a situation where elite high school guys continue to jump levels in that room. It is real and it is happening.

I think your thoughts are spot on.... When I watch Bo, Nolf, Hall, etc... These guys are all not afraid to scramble endlessly as well as put themselves in what some would call risky positions where they could get caught. PSU wrestlers look at accepting and not panic with exposing themselves for the chance to score big points. In fact many of the PSU wrestlers almost relish putting themselves in awkward positions to find a way out and challenge themselves. Especially true against weaker opponents where they feel confident they put themselves in positions some coaches/wrestlers never would as almost a challenge. Whoever is coaching it or several coaches are doing a fantastic job.

** Edit: For me watching Zain line up that bow and arrow was nothing like it. When he got the opponents foot and knee locked in then work up to get the wrist/arm locked underneath and drive forward it was exciting knowing it was a matter of time before big back points were coming...

Zain's Bow and Arrow = The Ultimate Pain Move = Brutality!!!. I'd rather be pinned immediately than have Zain put me in that move.

Another recent PSU move is the Arm Bar which seems to have been worked on by the team over the off season. LOVE IT!
