Agreed, Barry can be an asshole, but the fact that the board will not release information to him as a trustee is ridiculous. He’s about the only trustee that I trust right now.

Much more transparency is needed at Dear Old State. Lots of money in a smallish community is ripe for favortism in the awarding of contracts. Scratch my back, I will scratch your back.

PSU needs much more transparency on where the money is going because the in state and out of state tuition that the school is asking for is insane all the while that PSU is falling on academic lists.

Look at schools that have historically been the so called "safe schools" on applications - GA, Clemson, Florida are now hard to get into. Pitt has by passed PSU in most of the rating services in Medical Technology, Engineering, Business.........

So PSU tuition is going up.....but the level of academic teaching is staying stagnant or perhaps even going backwards. You need a Barry or two to get control of the back room dealings that have been going on in State College for a long time.

Maybe require Pa Senate approval since they get so much state funding. Some selected by the deans of each college.

If you haven't watched a board meeting you should. Barry while God meaning is an impediment to getting things done with his off topic questioning of things and his misunderstanding of parliamentary proceedings while trying to cite the same. I know his heart is in the right place but he is often wrong.

All this while blindly vote "yes" for every proposal put in front of them without a single question. Agreeing to spend Billions of dollars without having seen a single detail. Yes, that's a great way to get things done. If only we had about 15 more Barry's we wouldn't be $200 Million in the Red this year. Think about that for a moment, the University is $200 Million in the Red while having the highest Public University cost in the country all while the percentage of out-of-state students is just under 50%. The board is broken and exactly one person has been attempting to right the ship.

As of the last public meeting the Alum's will not choose who gets to run for the board, but instead get to choose who the board will consider allowing to be on the board. Oh, and they haven't made the requirements public.
