Right now we have lost 3 coaches from last year. Donovan, Shoop and Herb Hand. Let's look at these individually, and try to put things in a little perspective. And get some of you off the ledge....
1st. Franklin fired Donovan. I believe 70% of the PSU fan base saw this coming and thought it should happen. Heck, Franklin took over play calling duties in like week 3. Whenever a Head Coach takes over play calling duties from the OC, the OC's days are numbered.
2nd. Shoop left for Tenn. Why was the UT job open???? Because Butch Jones parted ways with Coach Jancek after UT finished 36th nationally in total defense. Yup. That's right. The program Bob Shoops left for because of "security" fired a coach after 1 season who finished 36th nationally in total defense. I say the pressure is on for Bob Shoop. 36th is not great, but it's not bad. If Butch Jones is willing to part ways with a coach for 36th ranking nationally, then I guess you know the level of your "security".
3rd. Herb Hand left for Auburn because Auburn's OL coach, JB Grimes, left for U of Cincy. Yup. Remember how everyone on this board was so bewildered how Shoop could make a lateral move for UT over PSU?? Well, the OL Coaching job at Auburn was open because JB Grimes took a move to the mighty Cincy Bearcats.
Point is that coaching changes happen. Shoop's spot at UT was open because a coach was fired for a 36th ranked defense. Hand's spot was open because the Auburn OL Coach left for a lateral move. Sadly in the world of college football these things happen. For 46 years we were isolated from the off-season madhouse. Now, we are part of the insanity of the college football coaching world.
